hello sir,

please do not under estimate "dada's" abilities.

he is a slow but very steady player like "our great wall" dravid.

one or two fails(even in a whole season)happens to every one.

please avoid using such comments over to any of our "tristars" of this decade.(sachin/dravid/ganguly).

it is their last season/year in cricket life, let them contribute as much as they can and in 2008 let our coming up yougsters will boost the morality of team & sports indian cricket.

regards

K.V.KANNAPPAN/TIRUPUR.

another place to fight
by kotanaga bhanukiran on Dec 10, 2007 11:03 AM

Hi,

This article is about irfans mainden century not dravid/yuvraj or gangulys achievement.

So applaud irfans commitment to cricket and applying himself to cricket and giving 100% commitment.

Irfan started as a bowler and turned into a alrounder and lost focus when he started batting well about his bowling. But now he is bck with a bang and bowling better and batting better.

So, as long as one has the ability to do for the country he should be in the team. We all know indian cricket is full of politics and how people who dont have the power get dropped, kaif is a classic example he was a better player than yuvraj but he got axed. yuvraj played for a long long time and now he seems to be serious about cricket good for india, atlast he wants to play cricket. Poor chap dravid he always used to play cricket with heart, but he is not scoring now so people think we dont need him any more.

take ganguly,dravid,sachin,kumble,irfan,dhoni... they play with heart. yuvraj seems to understand that he has the heart to play so good for india.

Well i too landed up discussing the same things. Congratulations irfan on your maiden century.

drop dravid save india
by Ricky Thukral on Dec 10, 2007 06:54 AM  | Hide replies

India's next overseas tour will magnify the non performing- Rahul Dravid like they did when india played the one day series in india.

Playing against australia is dificult because they magnify your weakest link and at the moment Rahul Dravid is india's weakest link along with Dinesh Karthik.

Dravid failed in south africa and England. Now his best score is 50 in last 5 test inings against pakistan.

Yuvraj played the great knock and proved why he should be in the team for australia.

In teams best interest Dravid should open so we can accomodate Yuvraj as every other player in the middle order have earned their spot for the aussie tour.

If Dravid cant open then drop him....if he fails in the melbourne test...drop him..play sehwag as a opener and laxman at number 3 with yuvraj at number 6.

This will be a batting line up that can challenge australia.

TIME TO GO DRAVID---BUT GUYS PLEASE GET VIEWS OF KIRAN MORE AND GREG CHAPPEL---THEY WILL AGREE...PERFORMENCE IS THE ONLY CRITERIA...NOT EXPERIENCE.

short term memory is a big problem.. I think they have long term remedies for that.. U need to see a doc..
Dravid has been performing consistently for so many years now and including the early part of this year and one slight blip in form doesn't take away his class. He's our best bet to perform in Australia. If you want bang bang batting, stick to watching just the 20-20 games. Test cricket is not for you!

Dravid was the MoM and Man of the series on the recent WI tour and he won that series for us after soooo many years. He also did perform in England where the going was tough. Infact, whenever we've needed it most, Dravid has rescued us more often than anyone else. Also, his record in and against Australia is quite remarkable. Yuvi could only come in place of Karthik but that would be unfair to Karthik too. Afterall he's done very well as an opener in the limited time he's had. Also Parthiv Patel could be in the tour party which may go against Karthk. Parthiv has an excellent test average with the bat and has been in amazing domestic form. But for all my money, I'd have Dravid bat to save my life and then it would be Sachin, Ganguly and Laxman.

Mr. Riku Thukral, agreed Dravid did not do well in recent past but then you will find only in 3 serires he flopped that too by his std. In Eden test, he was not out but given out, so had right decision given may be he too could have scored a 100 and satisfy you. And as far the current series is concerned, it is not big deal to score runs becoz Pak bowling attack is as bad as Bangladesh attack and the track also is flat. So real test comes in Australia.
By the way when Ganguly as a non perfomer stayed in the team for more than a year then why not Dravid? May bcoz he does not have a Godfather like Dalmiya.
As far as opening is concerned Dravid has done that several times.

I will tell you why....like kaif makes up with his feilding..when he is not scoring runs.....

Ganguly made up with his captaincy skills...he was by far india's best captain...the result is we have yuvraj bhajji pathan zaheer....all groomed by ganguly....this is what he did when he was captain and not scoring...

The point is we have a inform player waiting...and in the team dravid struggling...?Yuvraj has to play in the middle order...Dravid need to make way for him.

One thing should know if you want India win / draw the series, Select the player based on current performance not what they did in the past. Based on the present form Yuvi must play test agst Aus.

When was this tour of west indies u r talking about?

Since Ganguly returned in south africa...Dravid failed in south africa and failed in england...he only performed against bangladesh where everyone got a hundred including karthik....Karthik infact did well...in england..while dravid failed..

In the middle order Dravid is the worst on current form....so yuvraj....should be in and dravid to open or get dropped.

the MoM was in the last game which was another low scoring affair that India won by 49 runs. Dravid was the only Indian to go past 50 in both innings. He has been pivotal in us getting to targets and also setting up big totals where all the batsmen bat around him.

Ricky, currently all of our lead batsman are scoring runs but for dravid. This is absolutely correct, but please understand, dravid has been the backbone of indian batting for almost a decade. he is in bad form, because he is not scoring runs, and all these series which you are taking about, he has been a victim of poor umpiring decisions more than once in all series, esp, when he was builiding up a good innings. All that he needs is one big innings which is due from him, and things will fall in place. He has done it many times in the past and he will continue to do that in future also. He has a batting average of 56.05 (higher than sachin), scored 5 double hundreds, 24 test hundreds (dismissed 9 times in nervous 90's), involved in 69 partneships of 100 plus runs, the only batsman to be involved in two 300 runs partnerships in Odi's, speaks volumes about what a committed team player he has been. Hats off dravid, let your bat answer your critics.

To Sandeep. What do you mean Dravid is not scoring runs. Dravid scores are 38, 34, 50, 8 n.o. and 19 in the series. It is not that Dravid has been getting out cheaply or failed. So don't say that Dravid has not been scoring. And what do you mean that this retard Ricky is correct? Why do you support such people who are full of hate?

Mr India, i won't comment on Ricky being retard or what. I dont think so, he has his own views and i respect his views just as i respect yours. When i say Dravid is not scoring, i mean Dravid is not scoring up to the potential or expectations. As in every 2-3rd innings he gets a hundred and mostly he is the highest run scorer in a series. So from his standrads, definitely he is way below in the last 4-5 innings. And Jaffer, sachin, ganguly, laxman, dravid, yuvraj have all scored well in the opportunities they have got. So there is pressure on him and as expected, he will rise to the occasion. He will come back and score a lot of runs again and let his bat answer his critics. Thanks

To Sandeep. No. You don't acknowledge taking shine off the new ball part played by Dravid in current series. If Dravid had fallen cheaply early on, then the lower order batsmen would have folded like a deck of cards. So the high scores by the lower order batsmen was made possible because of Dravid making those valuable partnerships with Jaffer early on. Cricket is not all about individual centuries or scores.

Hi,

yuvraj after so many years played one knock and now u want him to be in the team. Yuvraj is good for oneday cricket. He is not the guy who looks like a complete man. He is more of a flamboyant who plays cricket if he wants to. We know he much he has performed in all these years, and how much of political clout his dad has. He is a good player but not in the class of dravid, ganguly, laxman or sachin. In test cricket we need people to steer the team clear in difficult situations. Had yuvraj been a asset then i dont think dhoni would have become a captian. Yuvraj is a good player but not a great player, he needs to play a lot more to reach that. Down under you need technique and talent which dravid, laxman have in abundance.
And dravid has not scored in last three tests but was scoring before that for a long long time. So, let him play his game.

Chappel effects!

The former Indian Cricket Coach tried to destroy the Indian Cricket as much as he can. Thats why, he tried his hands in dislodging seniors, specifically Ganguly and upcoming all-rounder Pathan. He succeeded in eliminating Ganguly and Pathan from the Team. However, once he disappeared, these stars started performing again. Welldone Indian team.

Let us hope that the new recruit Kirsten will not follow the footsteps of Chappel.

This is a cricket issue. So just stick to that. don't bring communal politics into it. What India looses a match due to the failure of Zaheer and Irfan and they get blamed for this due to their religion? Will that be fair?for it? Will that be fair. Also if India win a match without any minority player and someone on that basis suggests that people from the community represented by Zaheer and Irfan are not needed. So please just shut up and concentrate on the game ( that is just in case you don't get it)cricket
