Something is Better than Nothing !!!
by Rajeeb Sharma on Dec 03, 2007 12:14 PM  | Hide replies

Guys, finally BCCI could convince one guy though he lacks experience or have to coach better players than him.... etc etc. Please understand that when NOBODY (absolutely NOBODY) is willing to take up the job, BCCI has no choice, otherwise BCCI will be ashamed before the whole WORLD that being the largest body cannot find a coach. SO, they found one now !!!

The bottom line is... the job is done, whether good or bad. To hell with rest of things and team and country!!!

why did Ford refuse? do you know how many foreigners have been called for the job. Gary clearly mentioned that "he never came to BCCI, rather he was called by BCCI." If the above th crap, what you did is worse of that. Isnt it??
About Patil and Amarnath, they may be willing, but BCCI is NOT interested in INDIAN coaches!!!
DONT bark cos someone did already. Even I am interested, will BCCI give me. I am also a foreigner. Get your facts right. NOBODY WANTS TO COACH INDIAN TEAM... BCCI has to go an beg the foreigners to show off that they also have a foreign coach. There are lots n lots of GOOD coaches available. Why BCCI is not offering them? You think all of them are interested?

Its not Foreign Vs. Indian really!
by Baljit Sidhu on Dec 03, 2007 12:13 PM

Yes, we may not necessarily need a coach afterall. At this level what is required is a strategist foregn or otherwise. I dont think Indian coach will have an edge 'coz he knows the culture. Infact the laid back culture that we have is the bane. We have not improved our fielding or bowling dramatically under Indian supervision. Look at how Munaf dealt with Akmal catch just yesterday or Tendulkar dropping Misbah! Our bowlers are also being taken to cleaners even by the pak tail! If we have succeeded in the recent past it is only because the opponents played some below par cricket.

Let Indian team not have a coach
by Just Like That on Dec 03, 2007 12:07 PM

What is the necessity of having a coach? Does not our players know how to play or is there something new that none of our players know that the coach is going to teach?

Without any coach itself, our team proved that they can win matches. If Sharad Pawar like criminal politicians cling to the top post with the intention of looting without having any knowledge of cricket or ever being played for India, then our team can manage without a coach also.

A coach is indeed needed
by parveen on Dec 03, 2007 12:04 PM

TEam India definately need a coach to plan. Like in the current series indians were not able to get the wicket of Misbah th eonly times he got out is because of his wrong shot selection for a good cause. Now look it looks he singled handedly is going to make the test draw. Here were the coach comes in play as he can analysis his weakness and give his input fo rth eteam to execute. A foreign coach might not be more capable than Indian coach but he will definate be less partial and least he won't be partial for regional feeling. Ajit wadekar was coach and make sure to give chance to western player lot of chance though most of them got faded out soon. We so much regional and money making thing is there in today's cricket having an Indian coach is not good. Though i don't agree with gary kirsten as coach first he has no experience and most importantly he never applied for the job and so he is not mentally prepared to take up the chanllenge

by Rodricks on Dec 03, 2007 12:00 PM  | Hide replies

BCCI always wants to make new experiment. should make new experiment. They should give a chance for jobless Mallika Sharawath. She is physically very fit. fielding will be very much improved. players will play good shots. bowlers will mantain good line and length.

SCANDLE
by James on Dec 03, 2007 11:55 AM  | Hide replies

Hi
Hope BCCI is not paying a HUGE SALARY and taking a cut from his SALARY ? Anything is possible, where HUGH money is involved.

WHY NEED COACH, when Sharad Pawar and few more people who had holding POWERFUL / SR. POST IN BCCI, without even knowing ABC of Cricket, or held a bat or ball (other than their own balls and bat), WHY DO WE NEED A foreigner as a COACH.

Our team is doing well without a coach, let it continue................. for good

Do you realize how retarded that sounds? BCCI is the one paying for the coach's salary - why would it take a cut out of something it pays for? If you mean corrupt officials, they don't need to do that. They are a private club, and they can decide on an ad-hoc basis, who gets what. Why do you think politicians like Jaitley and Pawar are so interested in the BCCI?
Typical indian mentality too - we'll fix things only when they go wrong, instead of proactively trying to fix things so that they never go wrong. So what if India is doing well now - we will run into the aussies in a few months - that'll be the real test. The Pak team is weak - for the first time in recent memory, we have a pak team with a weak fast bowling attack. And that is exposing their decent but not great batsmen. It helps to have someone who can give you a different perspective on how to go about approaching the game (true with everything, hence consultancy is such a big business). A foreign coach will have a different perspective on things rather than a desi coach, which is probably what the board is banking on.

Why do we need coach
by Firoz Ansari on Dec 03, 2007 11:54 AM

if prasad and robin both are doing good job why do we need coach, is it not enough that they managed to get 20-20 world cup?. why BCCI is demoralising our upcoming coach. Ok i agree that they are coach in a specific field, so we need a bating coach. IS Gary Kirsten is a better batsman than sachin, ganguly, rahul, etc. so why do we need bating coach if we have such talented players still playing in our team. and apart from this how well our team is doing...think BCCI

CRICKET COACH - WE HAVE VARIETY IN INDIA
by rajnish bhatnagar on Dec 03, 2007 11:53 AM

Ya we have lot of variety of right person to coach the present Indian Cricket Team. A popular quote in Hindi, pass me chora, gali me dhindora". We have so-much talented 83-WC-Winners and Champions in their fitness series. We must choose from them, they have played & won, among the most competitive cricket of the time. See what Chapel have given, he has wasted the time of our Ganguly and Sehwag. Please think ? How can a coach from the country, against which we are playing can coach us and define the weakness of his country team. We can give the foreign coach for just a flavour and add variety to our expenditure, else while thinkers please see what the talents we have in India, in every direction.

I hope selectors will understand, its India ka cricket hai beeru.

Rajnish
