What are Your views!!

I just want to harness the view of others out there, is this the best Indian Team that we can put forward? I mean really the batting is a factor to be considered but compared to our fielding and bowling it is streaks ahead in quality! I really wonder why these crap pots called selectors exist? I mean the back up bowlers are worthless, be it Agarkar or Patel! Can%u2019t bowl, bat or field. So after the first game we decide to drop a batsman and bolster the bowling for what!!?? I personally think an additional batsman should play and the 4 bowlers and Ganguly should bowl seam in the power plays and Powar should support him in the power play and then Yuvraj and Tendulkar should aid in the bowling quota. It can not get worse than 5th bolwer currently being used and may be with the addition of an Uthappa or Gambir would save some runs in the field. Also I think Karthik should sit on the bench, till he masters fielding properly without the unnecessary theatrics and drama of really below standard fielding! I mean he drops sitters true out the test and does not stop the ball properly and is all show! Play Uthappa and Gambir in 3 and 4 and then use the part timers! Make maximum of what you been handed with thanks to the bias Board and Blind Selectors. In the future select all rounders like Pathan and Kumar from India A, they can%u2019t bowl any worse of than the crap that Agarkar or Patel have dished out!

Gmbhir and Uthappa if in should open. Sachin and Ganguli needs to drop down at 3 and 4. Agarkar can only bat on a Diwali day or childrens day. Yes ask ganguli to be bowling bit more. Any youngster promising is welcome. But will never get in till Sachin , Saurav and Dravid are in.

THE MANTRA IS
by vaibhav kumar on Aug 27, 2007 02:57 PM

THE MANTRA IS "CONSISTENCY IN LINE AND LENGTH PLUS preferably SPEED"

I think Indian bowlers looked pedastrian in two games so far except for spinners who really bowled with guile and thoughtfullness.

Fast bowlers looked good in patches and this is not something which will fetch you success at highest level. England fortunately is not the strongest of the opposition and hence India got away with in consistency in bowling so far.

AJIT AGARKAR is the most mindless talent I have ever seen. Despite innumberable occasions/opportunities given to him
1. He failed to prove himself as the strike bowler,
2. He failed to keep the rhythem even within his spell of 10 overs in a game forget about consecutive games,
3. He failed to impress with his maturity as a player and as a performer
4. He perhaps got more opportunity as he is someone who can bowl magnificently on an odd day, and selectors keep faith on him to wait for those days,
5. He failed to prove himself as an all-rounder despite immense capabilities that he could have had.

AJIT AGARKAR had been most wasted investments that selectors and indian cricket have had in last decade or so.

The same amount of opportunities could have made others little known bowlers of contemporary cricket, who could not make it on the expense of Agarkar.

Feel free to disagree with me, but I have seen him for last few years and find that he failed to impress one and all.

cheers

Srinath / Zaheer / Agarkar

Who's better...all knives are out for Agarkar...can't the guy have an off day. Perhaps we are expecting too much out of him. He never said he was an all rounder..we made him one. Perhaps these stats of Srinath / Zaheer / Agarkar can give us a better understanding of why he's being selected year after year.

Srinath :
229 matches / 315 wickets
Aver. 28.08 Econ.4.44 SR 37.88
4 wk/m - 7 times
5 wk/m - 3 times

Average wickets/match - 1.376

Zaheer :
128 m / 185 wk / Avg.27.83 / Econ 4.86 /SR 34.34
4 wk/m - 6 times / 5 wk/m - 1 time

Average wickets/match - 1.445

Agarkar :
188 m / 281 wk / Avg.27.9 / Eco 5.03 / SR 33.21
4 w/m - 9 times / 5 w/m - 2 times

Average wickets/match - 1.497

It is also important abt the analysis of wkts, a bowler has taken. Whether wkts taken r of top 6 of the batsman or of tailenders. Also imp is whether he has taken wkts during initial overs thereby curtailing run-scoring of opposition or taken wkts in slog overs, when everybody goes for the slog hitting and gets out by hook or crook. Eg. Flintoff took 2 out of 5 wkts in last over of the innings of 2nd odi (whcih has no relevance compared to the situation when he had 2 wkts in one over during his first spell). Mere stats does not represent true picture.

INDIA WILL LOSE IF................................

I seriously feel that Ranadeb bose should be given a chance in place of Ajit Agarkar. He is tall and sturdy which is the basic requirement for a consistent pace bowler with enough strength to hit the deck at will..........Agarkar certainly lacks this. India will lose if Ranadeb is not there WHAT SAY friends?

Just as Yuvraj has aged without playing much of Test matches, it looks like even Uttappa would age being 12 man in ODI's. Time that our seniors adopt rotational policy to chance youngsters
