I see no problem with ILC running a parallel academy. Infact that wouldkeep BCCI on their toes. Except for themsleves and the indian cricketer, what has BBCI done for people who follow this game. Do we have staduims with good facility. The cost to watch a cricket match is like a bomb. Domestic levels matches are never covered or adverstised. Except for some stray dogs and the groundsmen, who watches domestic matches. The BCCI never thoght about all this.

There is nothing wrong in earning money provided you do your work. These ex players were paid a fraction of the present day players.
If they earn more with ICL,they should move.Who is he supposed to save money for? Sharad Pawar, and co?
Whats annoying is people who have never held a cricket bat or ball having the chance to steal millions of rupees just because they are politicians and have a way with deceiving the poor of our country and backstabbing the genuine ones coming forward to help India grow.

comeon,Whats wrong if they are earning huge money from ICL?Doesn't BCCI Pvt Ltd earn money from the matches? And why are they paying only peanuts to the players? How many of these persons including Sharad pawar know abc of cricket? And if they are not looking after the welfare of the players, then where is the money going? Its because of this indiferrent attitude of the BCCI that our players are more concerned of their sponsorship deals. This is affecting their game.If the players are earning well, then they can concentrate on their game more.So it finally shows that one of the richest sporting bodies-BCCI is the main culprit behind the deterioration of Indian cricket. So I see no problem in the players earning more, atleast they will play better cricket. Also several youngsters who are able will get opportunities.......Whats wrong in all these?????

There is nothing wrong in these old peaple earning money. But, why dont they accept they are moving to ICL just to earn more money. Why should they create an illusion that they are genuine and their only mission/vision is to create betterment of the game..

Why ICL
by Keshab Chetry on Aug 27, 2007 10:17 AM  | Hide replies

i don't know why people are so jealous of BCCI. If BCCI is making money. it is their credit. Before 1990s the board was very poor. Since then they have marketed the game well and it is now the richest Cricketing body in the world...so whats worng with it...What is the gauranteee that if Kapil and prassanna comes to the board...they will give a side better than Australia...if anyone sees the past records ..performance of indian team has becoming better over the years...About team selection ...there cannot be any team which can satisfy 100 million people...So BCCI is doing great job... expect a bit more... and back them...Forget the private leagues like ICL who are here only for money.

BCCI was poor because cricket was not so popular before 1983. The win in 1983 changed everything .Kapil and Co should be credited for making us cricket crazy. It is no credit of BCCI that millions are watching cricket and they are making millions from selling television rights.
And if Kapil and Prasanna, cannot get us a better cricket team in the future with their expertise,do you think the bunch of jokers who have never even held a cricket bat can get us a decent team in the future??!!.
It is the question of investing in the future.BCCI has failed in this primary mission.
Just as an example; every Tom ,Dick and Harry know that we struggle when we play abroad because of our domestic infrastructure and lack of bouncy pitches. Has the BCCI done anything in this regard. They get the credit when we do well but shies away from responsibility when things go wrong. Has anyone in BCCI owned up after the exit in World cup. They dont have to,because people have a short memory!!
They know that and you DONT!

BCCI is not a government body. It is a private body but representing India as no other was there to compete. They forgot it and started behaving as having all rights for everything relating cricket. BCCI is merely an NGO (Non government organization)like more than 50 lac other NGOs of India. An NGO cannot be equated with country. They have realized it now if not ICL has already moved to the court. NGO is not permitted to have property in its name, it can have only for community use. How can they stop any body playing in the grounds of the country. Competition always breed quality. Now BCCI has woke up and also formed another league PROFESSIONAL CRICKET LEAGUE which will involve international players. Were they sleeping earlier. Many more such bodies are yet to come.
It is like having many TV channels leads to better coverage of news. Donot confine yourself with narrow idea of having only one option to nurture players.

Don't relate cricket with commodity or TV Channels... everybody can sell insurance, everybody can sell two wheeler , everybody can sell mobile etc. but cricket... think deeply...please don';t make it a commodity, where everybody can open a shop for cricket

Why to depend on one NGO to manage cricket for the country that too when BCCI has already submitted affidavit stating that they are not the whole sole incharge of Cricket. The people like u without knowing any fact are making big issue for the body who has already denied to accept total responsibility of the game. First know facts then comment.

Its time we agree that cricket is a commodity. It's sold for millions of dollar's. BCCI has earned so much of money coz of Cricket. If you have to be in the team you will have to buy (a place) and sell (betting, bookie's) cricket. ICL and many more leagues to come will surely develop Indian Cricket.

Thats the most absurd statement that I have read in for a long, long time...Dont tell this again that everybody can sell insurance,2 wheeler, mobile etc.Only good professionals with the required selling skills can sell these products. The statement you have made is like the people watching cricket in their gullies saying that all can play cricket because it only involves hitting the ball with a bat....These people are ignorant about playing cricket and you are ignorant of selling insurance,2 wheeler, mobile.

BCCI gave me a raw deal: Prasanna
by Prabhudas Kamath on Aug 27, 2007 10:13 AM

Obviously, In fact BCCI is giving raw deal to almost every south indian legends like Chandra, Venkat, Vishy, Kirmani, Abbas Ali Baig . .

Prasanna has done the right thing. Remember, he is one of the shrewdest cricket brains from Karnataka praised b so many. ICL would certainly gain from him.

All the best Pras.

one man one post everywhere
by khajsingpungipur on Aug 27, 2007 09:49 AM

Cricket administrators should be full time paid executives, accountable for their deeds and misdeeds. There should be a law to ensure only one post for one person in any public body. That will keep corrupt politicians and bureaucrats away from sports.

ICL ....= Indian Cricket Lovers---- BCCI--- Board To Cash Cricket in India
by vipin judge on Aug 27, 2007 09:40 AM  | Hide replies

Well i dont have any problem from marathians or anyone else. If 11 mumbai players or kolkatta players can win us WORLD CUP then we should not bother about who they r or from where tey belong to after all we all are indians. If BCCI could not do it for us (The cricket lovers) who does not get a single rupee but still love the cricket just because we feel proud when India wins than BCCI dont have any right to stop others from doing this. If BCCI can alow players to play county cricket than why cant it do this for ICL, Its just EGO problem .. wo log apni taana shahi chalana chahte hain

As if BCCI is here for charity...Everybody in India know that BCCI is here for making profits. Are you so sure that BCCI that is here for developing cricket in our country?Ask talented cricketers like A.Rayudu,R.Sodhi etc. Or ask a few players like Rajesh Chauhan,Ananthapadmanabhan,S.Sriram,Amol Mazumdar,Atul Wassan,Vivek Razdan......The list is huge. These are players who were given a raw deal by the BCCI even when they were playing good cricket. The only reason why many couldnot get into the Indian team or maintain their position while playing is because they did not have godfathers in the selection board or the BCCI.
