See your beloved cricketers is sleeping at the crease as an opener - strike rate of 40 in the opening overs when all the fielders are in the circle. He can't play as an explosive opener. Persevere with him in test cricket till he falls flat on the ground, but spare the Indian team this misery in one-dayers!!
His days are numbered and i am not sure who will fill his boots but it certainly would be one who saves the team runs rather than gifting them away while fielding.
Is it due to lack of managerial authority that the players are getting sick? Manager need to impose some sort of house rule for the player to follow so that they do not get sick too often.
The question is why are our players who are supposed to be in excellent health, stamina and energy are getting sick too often. Are they behaving like child who does not want to wear warm clothes in winter?
Next issue is selection of players. We read that Sachin, Yuvaraj, Agarkar, and RP are all down with flu bug. In that case a fully fit Uthappa should be a better choice to replace Yuvaraj, or ill Yuvaraj is better than fully fit Uthappa. Similarly Gambir should be retained because a fit Gambir may be better than an ill Sachin. does it make sense?

Our big guns are opening as expected.
In the powerplay overs, they are batting like it is a test match already...i just pray India gets to a decent score.
The situation is crying out for a specialist and explosive opener, Sehwag. Yet, Vengsarkar and has cronies continue to be in denial.
They have taken 2 specialist openers in Uthappa & Gambhir but they are too scared to play them. Besides these two cannot bowl.
So what is the point in Vengsarkar and his cronies taking the players he feels scared to play.
Oh this defensive mindset of Vengsarkar reminds me of Gavaskar and his likes.
I am happy that ICL has mushroomed as this will certainly wake the BCCI up into doing something constructive for the sake of matching up with ICL. Kapil will certainly give them much to think about...What a load of bureaucrats these BCCI are?

why the hell is Agarkar still in the team. What is his contribution for the indian cricket.
i think the key to our winning is the start which sachin and saurav give us. sachin appeared to be getting into his grove when ganguly threw his wicket away, so i guess we cant afford more of such silly mistakes. usually, when the openers do well the middle order plays to potential. fingers crossed.......

Hi Aravind,
You are correct...they key to our winning is the start. But we have got two wrong batsmen to give us the explosive and aggressive start to put the opposition on the backfoot.
They are good for test cricket as they are playing themselves in and later on it will be too late for them to accelerate as the field is going to spread out.
Borde & Vengsarkar are wrong people for selecting a one day team. They should just not meddle in one-dayers. We need to get specialist one-day managers and selectors, who do not confuse between test cricket and one-dayers.
