Haresh Pandya- will also be a traitor if cric info lures him with a package
by Seeli on Aug 23, 2007 10:01 PM  | Hide replies

Haresh Pandya has written this forum and the blog. He says all the ICL members are traitors. If politics rule cricket, then traiters are better than money eaters and game loosers. Even Haresh Pandya will be a traitor if Cricinfo lures with a good package. Feeling so bad to see such a biased blog from a news special editor/reporter. May be BCCI has bought him with a package lol.

Well said Seeli and Desperado. Those who oppose ICL, do not see the bigger probs posed by BCCI. Since the 80's when cricket picked up, bcci has acted like a "bunch of jokers", like mohinder amarnath courageously proclaimed. Entities with no checks and balances will become dysfunctional over time. bcci is one such.

We agree what ever Kapil Dev does Nay to Sarad Powar !!!
by Seeli on Aug 23, 2007 09:57 PM

Kapil is the prodigy of Indian Cricket. Wizden cricketer of the century in Indian Cricket 2002. He is the only Captain who brought us world cup. Sarad powar knows how to handle tea cup in BCCI and ICC meetings. lol. We agree to Kapil never to a cheater and crooked politician. Indian cricket will never flourish until the polititians leave the game alone. They can watch the game but should not involve in selecting team and imposing political rules. Down Powar.

BCCI is democratic ? since when ? they claim they dont even represent india!!!! they have voting systems that are worse than politics. they have horse trading et al, to make it a stinking mess.
i love whats happening with the cricket scene. for too long bcci has been alllowed to go on unchecked. look what tey did in reponse. what stopped them from doing it without icl ? these bcci stink. they need accountability. thier revenues checked, and some action taken if they Aare found to be corrupt.

look here dude. i have been replying in english till now. yet you dont seem to understand. the ICL was never interested in starting a parallel org. it was the BCCI who started this "streetfight". no illusions. and now, they are paying for it.
tell me, wouldn't it have been nice to accept the ICL as the T20 wing of the BCCI? this would not only have facilitated T20 specialists but also allowed everyone to give a shot at every form of the game. the fault lies with the BCCI. its immediate reaction was "we will ban players"....etc. this would have angered the players more and now, they have taken up the challenge.
make no mistake, its not only we who hate the BCCI, its the players as well.

The benefits of ICL can already be seen... Board for Corrupting Cricket in India (BCCI) has hiked the fees of largely NEGLECTED domestic players. ICL is also providing employment to many past and future players. They are also creating a pool of domestic coaches...so we dont have to import insults like chappell. ICL promise is to provide cricketing experience and not to bombard us with commercials in stadia, or on TV. Competition is good hope ICL will influence BCCI to become more professional after all we know how professional our "respected" BCCI is? Their means of communication is not memos or website, but through media in a system of leaks and counter-leaks. For BCCI there is only one team "National team" everything else is a discard look at india-A who crushed SriLanka A did any one from BCCI praise them.. ICL is concentrating at mid level and talking the development on boths sides, yes their current players dont have stars but this is the beginning. What i would like to see in years to come is a clash between the teams of BCCI and ICL just like the superbowl in US... Any takers?

ICL - no big deal
by george vincent on Aug 23, 2007 06:44 PM  | Hide replies

It appears the rediff people came to understand the reality behind ICL only to day.

In fact, the ranji players joining in ICL is good for indian cricket. 'coz, v want a replacement for our senior players. But, v could not produce this replacement from our elite domestic cricket - Ranji or any other kind. Now, there will be chance for new crop of players enter into this elite domestic cricket and may find some replacement for ageing seniors.

If, v come to the Kapil, Other than winning WC '83, I couldn't see any big achievement from him. He too was struggling to reach that highest number of wickete in test cricket before his retirement. He was a big faileure as Indian coach further this ICl includes another buffoon Kiran more, under his tenure as selection committie chairman, the whole atmosphere in the indian team dressing room was spoiled given what eber the reason like throwing saurav away from the team or any.

Furthern it involves so much money and business, i dont expect a real heart behind the performance of these players as all are motivated by money.

Only thing, Now the bcci got some kind of competition and they must improve their way of working.

Yes James!

I didn't undermine kapil's achievement of winning WC '83. Other than that, he couldn't give much success to I dian cricket. India lost in semis of '87. He failed as a coach team India. At times. his name was involved with fixing scandals. Wt else v need. V can't be too emotional. As a cricketer, Kapil got some success. At the same times, he has got so many failures. V need to look at every side before saying a person a "legend or living legend"

V havn't started playing cricket only in 1983.

It was the media which brought the cricket into the lime light. It was not Kapil.

The reason, people started watching or playing cricket is the WC'87 organized in india and there was live coverage in DD, then in 90's, Dalmiya was the president- bcci, who made the cricket more commercial.

if media can bring a game to the level of cricket them football would have been our national game, probably tennis equally popular ...
Its takes leagends to create fan following.
And i feel kapil is one of them !!

ICL to start with, have given sleepless night to the currupt-autocratic-opressive administrators of BCCI. At lease this challenge has improved the earnings by many fold of even domestic crickter on either side of BCCI or ICL. And now a professional league by BCCI.

Amazing ... ICL has really impacted the cricket scene in india in positive way !!

hail ICL and the people behind them.

ICL to promote budding cricketers!
by heaven on Aug 23, 2007 06:19 PM  | Hide replies

Lets keep this plain and simple:

1. ICL is a private body managed by professionals. No one there is in it to make money. They have made their money and now want to promote the sport, unlike our 'respected' BCCI!

2. They play the 20-20 format with a view of promoting budding talent. Whats wrong with that?!! Yes some may contest saying will 20-20 improve skill?? But let me make it clear, that we have enough of 'stars' who have skill but cannot deliver when it comes to the grind! Where did Kevin Pietersen come from? He was not a 14year old wonderkid like Sachin, neither did anyone hear of him till he was 22years plus! But now he comes and can blast any attack out of reckoning!! Is that skill?? No. Its pure and simple, attitude, an attitude that says, we will fight whatever the situation, we will dominate!

The best that the ICL can do is build that faith in a young cricketer, playing the 20-20 format will make up his character, skill is intrinsic and can be nurtured as he matures. We need the guy to take pressure, again the 20-20 format is ideal to put it together!

Any takers for this now?

his days are over because the Hyderabad Cricket Association played dirty politics. he was even forced to move to the Andhra team in between.
here is an example.........arjun yadhav, son of former selector and present head of the HCA shivlal yadhav.........he averages in the mid twenties, a decent fielder, and a more than part time off spinner (basically a bits and pieces cricketer). he was put on standby during india's tour of ireland. is there an iota of logic in that? this, Mr.James is how the BCCI runs

Mr James, then you have again stuffed your foot in your mouth! Where was the BCCI with all these plans some days ago? Why did they have to wait for ICL to 'announce' their 'grand' plans? Get a life mate! If BCCI really wants to do real good, then they should ban all politicians in the Board, and only have it run professionally by cricketers!

Why this knee-jerk reaction to counter the ICL. They have made it clear that they are pissing in their pants when they see the ICL growing and growing.....petty scoundrels!

doen'nt it look like the above points u mentioned are similar. match fixing, money minded, useless players. Its all that is already there with the BCCI. You mentioned them, as u know it exists in the BCCI and could happen to ICL.But are you not proving yourself to be too stupid to jump to conclusions?Whatever ICL does, they will be accountable to the people of India. So why r u trying so hard without succees to prove ICL wrong. If its hurting ur interest, then its better u beg. Now report this too as abuse.

Cmon we all know how they have been filling their coffers all these yrs.,and what we have in all these yrs. is a talented team of "superstars" who pull in different directions...what has BCCI does in all these yrs. to develop cricket at grassroot level in this country?????...we don't hav sufficient bench strength after playing the game for 5 decades now, thanx to them !!!Don't worry if Kapil is making money or not, he's getting paid for what he's doing-what's d big deal??? If ICL gets some semblance into BCCI, we shuld b thankful to them...they have just started, give them a chance!!!
