why another seperate 20-20 league. why not BCCI co-operate with ICL ?

the answer is BCCI wants all the money for itself. no-one is entitled to make money out of cricket. they seem to think they have a pre-ordained divine right to make money out of cricket in india. i'll be happy to see competitors to bcci.

no my dear. ambati rayudu is an amazing attacking batsman, though i do not know much about his wicket keeping. he has been in reckoning from the age of 17. he really is a sachin tendulkar material (the old sachin i mean). rayudu's loss definitely will be india's loss (I am not from his state, but a true fan of cricket and true talent)

Balaji,
Did you mean someone was ready to be Sachin and "BCCI" did not give him a "Chance"?

I have heard quite a few stories like that and look forward to one being true.

Captain Dravid vs Ganguly
by Bongo Khota on Aug 24, 2007 10:30 AM  | Hide replies

Is removing shirt in safety of dressing room agressiveness?

or facing attacking bowling an agressiveness?

or declaring one self unfit after seeing green top wicket agressiveness?

Saurav Ganguly
matches captained 147
Matches won 76
Win percentage 51 %
Wins against quality oppositions
Aus 4 Eng 7 NZ6 Pak 7 SA 7 SL 6 WI 8
total 46
Win percentage quality oppositions drops to 31 %

Rahul Dravid
matches captained 73
Matches won 39
Win percentage 53 %
Wins against quality oppositions
Aus 1 Eng 6 Pak 5 SA 4 SL 8 WI 8
Total 32
Win percentage quality oppositions drops to 43 %
Difference in wins against quality opposition is whopping 12 percentage !!!

Now tell us why and how Saurav Ganguly is better captain than Rahul Dravid?
Why this halla Hoo..?
Just because some want Saurav as captain?
In fact percentage of win against minnows is more in case of Saurav Ganguly and percentage of win against stronger teams is more in case of Dravid.

well, i don't understand why are you reluctant to compare these two captins. You seem to be a fanatic Dravid suporter.Lets not go into match by match statistics man. Dravid is of no match to Ganguly's captaincy man. Ganguly is the best Indian captain ever man as far as statistics are concerned. Otherwise also, if you see overall record, everyone easily remembers Australian Series, Natwest Series, Pakistan Series, World Cup 2003 and many more....

Can you match these records with that of Dravid...

We cannot compare Dravid with Saurav. If we consider wins against quality opposition Saurav has won 4 matches against Australia.Even if Dravid holds captainship for his entire life he will not be able to achieve that feet.
Dravids decisions are at times very pathetic. He went terribly wrong in world cup.He choose to bat when there was clear indication that the pitch wud intially assist bowlers. He under estimated Baladeshi's.He compared our team with Australian team and thaught he will be able to score 350 plus against weak opposition and wud register thumping win against weak Bangladesi's.But things went otherwise.
His second biggest error was not to give a follow-on to England in Third test match.Otherwise we cud have easily won the series 2 nil

With due respect to yuor views, I would like to share my views.

A leader is one who leads from the font in terms of planning/strategy/execution/and proactive and motivating attitude. A leader is one who make the things happen rather than letting it happen.

Dravid has been over few months time now has gone into a shell, in his ideas, in his approach to batting, in his approach to motivate others. He has been on the worng end of couning endless reasons of not being consistent but have not done anything to sort that out. His actions on the filed and outside (team selection/stratgy) look stale and rigid with no out of the box thinking. He is afraid of taking risks and timid towards challenges as a captain. He is also not a shrewd tactician and his filed placings do not suggest any rationalized thinking at his level (of being leader).

His technique to bat is still the great but he is failing miserably to dominate the opposition. The same is also reflected in his handling the people.

If I have to compare Dravid and ganguly, I will give 40% to Dravid and 60% to ganguly for their approaches as captain. Unfortunately, though Ganguly was good as a man management leader but not good as a tactician. Dravid is hailed due to his rapo as a batsman but not for true leadership skills. Still Ganguly looked like showing the face of India 2020, but Dravid offers a face of 1947.

I amy be wrong in my opinion but fail to align myself with the approach Dravid lead team India and

ICL getting support
by summer on Aug 24, 2007 01:53 AM  | Hide replies

Bengal has offered all major stadiums to ICL. Bose, Tiwari, Sharma, Raina, Sewhag, VKRV - are outstanding talents declared surplus on long term basis.

Short term victims, three (now five) players will not be included in second test. Ganguly was spared!.

exodus control by bcci
by musambi on Aug 23, 2007 11:08 PM  | Hide replies

playing for bcci is like taking up a gov't job. safe/secure/no accountability/autocratic bunch of loosers. if i were a decent cricketer, where playing for the country is really playing for a money making machine called bcci, which acts like a corrupt political entity, why the f**k would i bother to play for them. To be gainfully employed purely on merrit, and get a good job satisfaction, i would rather work for a private entity. india has come a long way in professionalism within private organizations.

Rahul Kumar, that is for players to decide. Typically some players get 3rd rate treatment by BCCI and a less competent cricketer gets to play for india because of friggin regional politics, push/pull/connection/sponsors. We see that happen in bureucracies all over the world. bcci needs competition. 1.1 billion population producing 1 team with 11 players to represent. what kind of fairness can one expect in choosing the final 11. We can have 10 to 20 teams easily, and bcci is incapable of doing that. i want good competitive cricket. playing for india or not is the decision of a player, and i wont judge a player if he chooses to play cricket in icl/or any league. stupid bcci penalizes a player for playing in another league, all for filling up only its coffers...

whats the big deal in making money. is BCCI accountible even ? is there pride in playing for an entity which does not claim to represent india ? why does BCCI think that it owns the cricket scene ? why doesnt it make its earnings public ? why do politicians clamour to take up the top job ? why is there wrangling for the channels till the last moment ? f they have so much money why dont they use it to improve the cricket scene ?

you look like a shill for BCCI.
