ICL-aligned players could do a lot to solve the problems of our Indian farmers !
by cajetan coelho on Aug 07, 2007 03:28 PM

The ICC, BCCI, ICL and such other organizations need to come forward to encourage cricketers to use their talents for the greater good of humanity worldwide.

Ex-cricketers, those currently playing cricket and those aspiring to play the gentleman's game need to show a greater purpose in life by offering their sevices and talents for noble causes. If one goes around certain districts of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra one constantly hears and reads stories about frequent suicides being committed by farmers and their families day after day, month after month and year after year.

Districts like Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Jalgaon, Gadchiroli, Wardha, Hinghanghat, Buldana, Bhandardhara, Beed, Nanded, Parbhani, Osmanabad, Aurangabad, Jalna, Latur and districts in parts of Andhra Pradesh require serious and immediate attention.

Instead of threatening the cricketers with life bans and sacks the ICC and BCCI need to find ways and means to encourage cricketers to serve humanity through their cricketing talents.

The ICL could rope in more and more players from the country and elsewhere and work out ways to set up institutions to work for the betterment of our farmers in our country. The farmers need to be provided with motivation, hope and inspiration to complete their existence in a meaningful way in our country.

Cricketers through their heroic onfield deeds have acquired plenty of experience which could be put to good use and service of those in need.

ICL-aligned players face life ban
by Don on Aug 07, 2007 02:15 PM

I can play cricket and can join ICL. I dont mind a life ban from BCCI and ICC who are useless. I can bring in my team and also my own crowds. You can cooly conduct matches.

If the BCCI does not ban players
by samson lawrence on Aug 06, 2007 04:21 PM

but is willing to consider the best players of ICL also to choose the Indian cricket team, do you think ICL will not let players play for India like the football clubs in Europe do?
BCCI has not done any good service to Indian cricket except rope in money. Sachin, Ganguly are not products of BCCI, BCCI didnt groom them, they were exceptional and BCCI got them free, even undeservingly. We and the players all were fooled by BCCI that this is the Indian Cricket team, but it was never answerable to the Indian Public and didnt share anything with the Indian public. ICL will atleast give us the wide choice of players present in India. So those sidelined by the semifinal-final Indian selection system could show their talents for a whole year and people could judge who the best players are. BCCI is not doing the right thing by going against the ICL. They should be promoting more like ICL to take full advantage of the vast Indian talent pool. Let the best guy win, let not the manipulator in power decide the fate of things. Monopoly is disgusting, BCCI monopoly is absolutely disgusting.

wats wrong in ICL
by manu sharma on Aug 06, 2007 12:14 PM

ppl say that their motto is making money, in wat way BCCI is different in dis respect... BCCI always make so tight schedule of games without worrying the results, players fitness and wastage of billions of working hours of indians dat game cricket has become juss a mockery... wats wrong if therez a parallel body to give plateform to few others... wats wrong if ZEE gets the bradcasting rights... in dis democratic country all sud hv equal chance of opportunties... 20-20 is the future of cricket... n dis format can provide fun for couple of hours... if BCCI is really concerned abt cricket's betterment, BCCI must b run by only cricketers who hv given contribution on the ground , not by the mere businessmen and politicians like pawar, dalmiya and niranjan shah..
