Sachin and Saurav are no good for One-Day Cricket, Anymore!
by Juzer H on May 01, 2007 08:12 PM

Sachin and Saurav's past records are their individual achievements. They can decorate and keep them in their drawing rooms. Their record did no good for the country in 2007 world cup. It did not win any matches for the country. On the contrary, it gave the international community a reason to poke fun at our country.

We respect Sachin and Saurav for the joy they gave us until 3 years ago. That does not mean we should be taken as granted.

kapil , when u were out of form for 1 year u didnot retire bcs u wanted to break hadlee record. u were not bowling well or taking wkts but u kept playing on and on for records. if u were in AUST u wd hv been thrown out even before 400- wkts . but were allowed by indians to continue so that u cd break internation record. same is true with SACHIN he knows PONTING IS CLOSE and beat all his records . so he wants to play as long as possible specially agnst weaker test teams so he can score few hundred and incrase his lead . lara is retired so only danger is ponting. if su nny knew his record cd be broken he wd hv played for longer as he was still good in test mathches when he retired unlike kapil

This is the official website of bcci

http://bcci.cricket.deepthi.com/index.html

You can find that there is a link related to sachin tendulkar in BCCI website where they have penned down about this genius. And another surprising thing is that there is no special coloumn/link about any other player even indias captain.

And BCCI has rested sachin !!!! Its sure that sachin is in their hearts and there is no reason to drop him. So kapils statement is baseless.

To conclude its just that sachin and saurav has been rested.

i got the official email id of bcci ...

hey guys i am going to send my article with substantial supporting documents based on sachin and saurav. I want to ask them did dravid deserve to be even in playing 11 when they have rested players like sachin & saurav and dropped players like pathan who incidentally did not even play a match in worldcup, harbhajan ......

is dravid in the team just because he is a captain? If so did he make an impact as a captain? what leadership qualities he has? and more i am going to send all these to them right now .....

kunal .... well said ..... we shud not forget the so many match winning knocks that sachin and saurav has played for india..... but i dont think we need them for bangla series .... if we risk them with injury then it would hit back as we need them for bigger tours like australia and pak. I hope they will do their bat talking and shut each and every critics once for all and that both sachin & saurav will have a very good farewell in 2011 worldcup .. hopefully india winning the next worldcup .... dravid shud be thrown out of the team pulling his neck ....he does not even deserve to be in playing team ....

Look at the difference
by Raman sSubramanya on May 01, 2007 11:01 AM  | Hide replies

To play against minnows Bangladesh, Tendulkar reaches padded up at Eden Gardens for practice session 15 days in advance. Whereas in the World Cup final someone has to wake up Gilchrist from his nap to go and bat.

The more one is relaxed, one will triumph. Our champions will practice in the net amidst media coverage and will score a "duck" at the actual match.

Hey Dude, What is wrong in Tendulkar going for practice session? Every good player need practice and if Gilchrist is relaxing then is going to be out from Australian team in near future. Tendulkar is beter batsman than Gilly both in terms of technique and record.

Selectors in a dilemma
by Raman sSubramanya on May 01, 2007 09:32 AM  | Hide replies

The Selectors are in a dilemma. If Sachin is included and Saurov dropped and vice-versa both Bengal and Mumbai wd be in flames. Hence either both of them should be included or dropped.

My point is both can be dropped for ODIs and Tests and yougnsters should be groomed !!!

2 ex captains superstars are power hungry to regain captaincy jealous of dervids achievement in short period. superstars backstabed the team
did not support dravid's captancy.dravid played under sachin and ganguly gave 100% commitment. He tursted the sachin ganguly chelas will support him but backfired by same group. who watched recorded coverage of WC games will see an deliberate attamet of senior and superstars to make ind loose. can u tell why dravid won 3 icc awards and still ahead of ganguly and sachin in icc ranking

hello suman,

its not the matter of winning 3 icc awards ... go to cricinfo.com and search for how many matches did dravid and sachin has won for india and you will find that sachin has won many matches for india than dravid. Its not the matter of not supporting dravid. What contribution did dravid make in worldcup? If he played well and did not get support from sachin and saurav then what you say its correct. But dravid does not even deserve to be in team ? His captaincy has been very poor , he lacked qualities of a good leadership. Whatever matches india has won during his short tenure as skipper is largely because of the youngsters performing well ... namely pathan, dhoni, karthick, sreesanth etc

But that does not mean that the team has to be filled with 11 youngsters. You need to have the combination of youngsters and experienced.
When it comes to experience, sahcin and saurav has enough experience in them and everyone should understand that "
THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIENCE"

Hayden & Gilchrist are 35 years of age, brad hogg is 36,ponting is 34, jayasurya is 37, murali is 35 etc If you believe that youngsters are enough to win matches, give me an example of a team that has performed consistently well in a tournament with young team.

Common sachin and saurav .... you got to prove these people what you are capable of as people tend to forget very easily the best innings that has been played and they remember the worst innings for long!!!!

bring back those glorious days of indian cricket and shut all once for all.

Rahul is one of the best players in world cricket, when such a player becomes captain he alone cant score 250 or 300 runs and take 10 wickets in evry match he plays he should be supported by team mates especially seniors players such as sachin and saurav. So Rahul has still got plenty of cricket to play.........unlike sachin and saurav...

so u mean to say rahul is best player and that sachin and saurav are not. For how long are you following cricket? On what basis are you measuring that a player is best. If it based on records, then you will find that sachin is by far the best among them and saurav is better than dravid in many ways both in batting and captaincy. Its true that a player cannot score 250 or 300 runs and he need to be supported. but this is the case even for dravid. What did he contribute? Yuo are saying as if dravid scored 100 runs and that he did not get support from others. The fact is that dravids batting was a flop, he made blunders in selectnig team, making toss decisions, lacked innovative leadership qualities & killer instinct.

how do you say rahul has got plenty of cricket to play? By age if you say that all 3 of them are of same age ..... dont talk rubbish !!! you might be a big fan of dravid but you need to understand the reality before you point fingers at others.

How many matches did dravid has won for india and how many has sachin won for india? Go to cricinfo.com and search for the records and you will find it.

why the hell did dravid sticking with his captaincy? is he too honest? is he not of the same age as that of sachin & saurav? did he make an impact on the worldcup leading the team from the front? did he deserve to be even in the playing 11 leave alone his captaincy? what contribution did he make in the worldcup? did he play a captains knock as that of ponting or jayawardena? did he win any match for india in worldcup? why the hell did he choose to bat first against bangladesh? even if it was a teams decision it is ultimately the captain who need to be controlling the game. This is not a soccer where the coaches play more imp role. In cricket captain is the one who has more power and need to control things, take decisions, inspire those who lack confidence like pathan & sehwag. Do you think that rahul deserve to be in team if sachin and saurav are dropped?

I hope sachin and saurav are only rested for bangladesh tour since we need them for bigger touurs like australia and pakistan. I wish both sachin and saurav to bring back those glorious days of indian cricket and shut everyone.

This is the bane of Indian cricket, dear Keshav. Let us talk about cricket, not about cricketers. You are blinded by devotion towards Sachin. I feel you will cool down only if Dravid is also dropped!
As I always emphasise in this column, let us all drop hero worshipping. Let us worship cricket

How can we?
by motivator on May 01, 2007 08:19 AM  | Hide replies

Untill recently I didnt even know that we can post our opinions on what rediff publishes here. Some say what rediff publishes is CRAP and some say rediff ROCKS! I personally feel whatever rediff publishes is almost(if not entirely) is CRAP. Having said that I am amazed to see so many responses, so many nice ideas going around in making India better. I cant stop myself from appreciating the CONCERN that everybody has, irrespective of what they are supporting and what they are not! People are following the rediff CRAP which is in fact thought provoking.

But I am tired of people who are just saying and saying. Why cant this spirit be turned into a practice? Why cant we think or atleast brainstorm about what we all collectively can practically do to eradicate such evils from the Indian society, be it poverty, be it unemployment, be it dirty politics just to name a few. Cant we do anything and if we can, where do we start from? I dont expect something to come out of this, but who can predict the future, for its so uncertain. I apologise upfront if somebody is offended by what said here.

I have no clue of whats happening with the party that some IITians sometime back have started. Did that motivation already had become vacuum?

Thanks
An optimist.

kapil should be aware taht 2ex captains superstare are never supported dravid captain or kapil had no guts to speak major role played by 2 superstar for WC debacle
harm SL is playing superb cricket None of senior player / ex captain m envied mahila%u2019s his promotion as captain From the outset they gave unstinting support. they remained hungry to perform and did not rely on reputation or popular support to protect their places This is quite eminent in our country now. Sachin and Saurav surely did it and you can judge it if you see Body language of these players in the match against Bangladesh and Srilanka.team india defeated same SL team 6-1 some times under dravid%u2019s captaincy without politician superstar ex captain not having part of team team won odis and test without ganguly and tendulakrs under dravid's captaincy. and dravid gave played under capttiancy of azar, sachin and ganguly. gave 100% commitment and performed consitatly for team under pressure and against strong bowling side. He trusted the superstars and supporters of 2 ex captains and backfired by them.sachin and ganguly are main culprits for wc debacle both are in captaincy race This is quite eminent Sachin and Saurav surely did it and you can judge it if you see Body language of these players in the match against Bangladesh and Srilanka.
