Many feel the newly appointed chief selector will provide a positive and constructive direction to Team India !
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on Sep 30, 2006 03:51 AM

In the last many months the current team has struggled a lot even against weak oppositions. Many feel the team lacked the services of experienced and quality leaders like Sachin, Saurav, Laxman, Zaheer and Kumble that led to those massive defeats. Now with the opening of the LOC to all deserving candidates of own country, we could be in a position to watch and enjoy vintage cricket all over again.

In his playing days, Mr. Dilip Vengsarkar excelled as a cricketer in Ranji, Deodhar, Duleep, Irani contests and in Test matches for the country. His batting performances were solid with a sound mixture of attack and defence. Those tested virtues have to be brought back in to the current team. Nowadays our boys are playing Test matches as if they were One Day encounters and One Dayers they make them look like the new thing called Twenty 20.

The newly appointed Chairman of the Selection Committee with his vast experience as a top class player, administrator, talent spotter and decision maker can certainly rescue our team from sliding further downhill.

For some time the team has looked more like a ghetto. The decision to bring in a new chief selector is truly refreshing.
