Indian Cricket and Politics - How can we forgive Dravid
by Susobhan Ghosh on Sep 30, 2006 09:34 PM

Everybiody by now know that politcs has thrown out Sourav by mere politics at the time when he was considered to be the best captain India ever had. Dravid is undoubtedly a wall, but he is also a capatain without any spine, and a slave of the Greg from Australia? We as Indian (shamelessly) take pride in accepting foreign prime minister (sorry, just missed the chance of glorifying us), white coaches while they prove their worth in foreign countries.
Not only that the foreign coach by the name of Greg can dictate his term to BCCI without any problem. He has succeeded in demoralizing and dividing the team, and made Sehwag, Irfan, Sreesanth, .... lose their confidence by promoting, demoting them at his own will. Depending on his mood he made them believe that they are in the top of the world, and in another day he is dumping them in a garbage bin.
Now something about Dravid's captaincy.
Did anybody noticed that Dravid (may be with Lord Greg's permission) did not ask W. Indies to follow on and try for a win in W. Indies tour. Or is he also involved in match fixing? Many times he forgot to utilize bowling skills of Sehwag, Tendulkar and Yuvraj. How can we forgive Dravid?

Useless Team

I completely agree with all the above written blogs. This Indian Team is a third grade Indian Team. First of all we don't know is Chappell is our coach or coach cum captain. How can you expect killer instincts from chapell when he himself suggested his brother to bowl an underarm ball. Our players like Dhoni, pathan are busy doing commercials, then from where they will get time to improve in their play. Only high-tech trainings will not do any use to this team. This team is the same old Indian Team, somehow managing to defeat teams like England and half strength SA in subcontinents. Just wait and watch, how they lose at Champions trophy and how their playing skills gets exposed when India tours SA. Chapell will have no regrets whether India lose or win.. bcos anyways his contrat will get over by next Year. He is fooling cricket board and taking loads of money...
This Inidan Team sucks.. no performance.. they should infact try their hands in Bollywood...
thanks

Useless fans

Team India lost not because they are "useless" but because the Aussies are better. Dhoni and others act in commercials because it is profitable to do so and expecting them to give up such opportunities is silly, but then again, most Indian fans have the maturity of 12-year-olds. It is childish to attribute their loss to commercials. Brett Lee and Glenn McGrath do commercials, Munaf does not, so is Munaf better than Lee and McGrath? Indian fans must stop being obsessed with their own team and recognise the wonderful cricket that other teams often play. Claiming that every loss is because our team played badly is the same as saying that every win is because the other team played badly. Sometimes we lose because the other team is simply better and we have to accept this. Obviously every player in the Indian team-and Chappell-is far more talented than you so why be jealous of the money they make?

Ridiculous Comments!!
by Arpan on Sep 24, 2006 11:15 PM

Dravid says "We will also focus on strengthening the fielding; we have really tried hard to improve it and seen the improvement". What a joke!

They can't even hit the stumps directly to effect a run-out. Even after "trying really hard", if you guys can't hit the stumps directly, you all better quit! On one occasion, Munaf & Sachin both had a shy at the stumps at the non-strikers end but both of them missed even though Hayden had to cover almost half the pitch. Sachin was just about 7-8 yards away from the stumps.

Though there were 3 run-outs, none of them were direct hits. Raina, considered to be one of the better fielders in the Indian team, couldn't hit the stumps from a distance of 5-6 yards to run-out Hayden. Dhoni had to complete the task.

If these weren't enough, Harbhajan's callous attitude to run-out Haddin was the icing on the cake when he dislodged the stumps without the ball in his hand! That was the turning point of the match. That goof-up cost India the match.

Instead of practising the basics in the nets over & over again, coach Greg Chappell makes the players undergo military training, climbing mountains & what not in the name of fitness. Worthless coach!

poor batting by Indian team
by robert on Sep 24, 2006 06:20 PM

I think the way the indian team batted, they were in a hurry to shoot commercials as they are at mercy of the corporates, especially, shewag and Dhoni, when Dhoni was to finish the game, his aim only to earn money, before he loses out the place in Indian team.

Bad Umpiring.
by BS PARA on Sep 24, 2006 10:38 AM

Friends clearly we lost fifth game with Australia due to bad umpiring. In Australians innings their wicket keeper Haddin was out but not given out by third umpire. And in indian innings Dhoni was not out, which was clearly a NO-BAll and given out and same with Harbhajan singh the sniko meter was clearly showing that there was't any contact with ball and bat. And surprisingly these all dicisions are came from Pakistani Umpires.

The worst captain not to play under such circumstances
by dev on Sep 24, 2006 01:10 AM

Rahul, this was not expected from you. you are not playing well in last 8 games. you scored only 85 this is the worst statistic against the captain.

Sachin has shown again that he doesn't play when it is needed like semifinal or final match.

But the blame should go to captain only. Forget about all other players he had the responsibility to lead the team to victory.

But you failed.

Biggest Chokers

There is no point watching our cricket heroes, who make more money than anyone else in cricket world, losing again and again. Its pity that folks in other sports make nothing in India. Things need to change in India, and these cricket players should not be over valued despite their consistent under achievement.
