Putting blame on pitch is ridiculous. Why they don't comment about pitch when it offers nothing to bowler. Nobody wants to see bowlers clobbered always for 400+ score. He would not have made the comment after winning. Anyway the point is if it plays fair and equal to two teams and it did unlike last ICC cup in England where team batting second had enormous advantage.
In my opinion instead of blaming the pitch Smith should realiaze that SA\\\'s batsman played poorly. Some of the dismissals were too soft and infact if they would have played with some commonsense they would be achieved the target. Infact they hould have taken a note from the way Fleming grafted the NZ innings. No doubt the bowl was squaring but having said that SA\\\'s lost 6 wickets before the spinners could do the damage. Now that everybody know that wickets are slow, low bounce and spinner friendly, cricket would become more of a decision making. In my opinion this year probably we may not get a high scoring match, maybe one or two which probably the team batting second will not be able to cope up with the prevailing condition. With low scoring match round the corner, I would like to see some bold decision from capatin\\\'s in particular the team batting second to send batsman who can hit the ball hard and over to capitalise when the ball is hard as well as make use of the powerplay situation. Like Kemp(SA), Brendon (NZ), Dhoni, Irfan (IND),Afridi (PAK) etc.
Well, it is obvious BCCI is sabotaging this competition because except for the gate money there is nothing much it gains out of this tournament and gate money it will get with couple of more indian games left to be played. The tournament belongs to ICC therefore BCCI would not have got much from its money-spinner 'television rights'. All the other justifications for the pitch being of such pathetic quality does not seem to rub. ICC may be racist but if what i believe BCCI is doing to this tournament is correct then it is simply not cricket..
