ICC does not possess any rights to hold Azhar
by Sandeep Soni on Oct 26, 2006 02:24 PM

ICC is nobody to decide whether azhar should be invited or not. I don't understand that if its only a building inaugration, then what part icc has to play in this. It is individuals choice on who needs to be invited and who need not?
Players like herchelle gibbs are still playing for the country inspite of the fact that he has agreed that he was offered bribe by the then captain
Azhar has done so much for the country, there was a time when no of the players were matching to his qualities

Azhar deserves the honour
by venkatesh on Oct 25, 2006 08:16 PM

Azhar is one of the best & successful captains until the controversy deprived him further service to Indian cricket.Even if tainted, the punishment meted out is enough- he needs to be bareed from playing or selection of team but not from felicitations or invitations to major events. Remember he is part of Indian cricket history and BCCI need to project the positive and forget the past. In other countries, tainted players are still playing. Why ICC is playing double standards? Move over the white skin policy, My Lords.

azharuddin-one of the best captain
by ZOHER on Oct 21, 2006 01:50 PM

Ya, Azhar rightly deserve to be honoured along with other captains in the function. ICC should observe that ban is on playing any matches for india and not on any functons or seminars from him to attend. Thus, they should not make any issue for this, rather concentrate on cricket.

Azharuddin

People make big statements as if they are saints, What has ICC done when it comes to players like Gibbs,Shane Warne, Mark Waugh, just because they don't belong to an asian country ICC has softened its attitude, moreover Azhar's involvement in match fixing is not proved till date, who will bring back his precious years, he was targetted for everything, even when he got married for the second time, why can't a person marry for a second time and how can anyone comment on his personal life, he is here only because of his hardwork and talent, he has been made a scapegoat, i request people not to make big statements as if they have not done any mistake in their lives, and Azhar is a clean person with a big heart, he never showed his frustration all these years, he deserves his honour. I have full faith in his talent and ability to play quality cricket, what else could be more honourable IF AZHAR IS ALLOWED TO PLAY HIS 100TH TEST MATCH, BY DOING SO HIS LOST GLORY CAN BE REGAINED.I request everyone, including BCCI authorities to bring back his glorious days.
Azza, you are the best, you will always be my best cricketer."its never too late" hope people realise their mistake. Bless u

Azar deserve honour...
by Amit Padwal on Oct 20, 2006 07:56 PM

Azar deserves this honour...Whatever happened in the past was really unfortunate...But he have suffered a lot for this...compared to other players who have been named and still playing for their countries...

Thats why this is the time...he needs appreciation for what he did for his country...He was truely a great player...and needs recognition

Azhar should be honoured
by Rajesh Nair on Oct 20, 2006 02:16 PM

I think they should honor him for which he has served the country for so many years and has kept upto the expectations of the fans all over the world. And now its time to lift the ban from Azhar cause till date they have not found any exidence against him as such he should be allowed to live as normal cricketers live. In my opinion only the indian cricketers or may be can say Asian crickters are punished and given such type of bans rather than any other part of the world. If we see in the past we can suspect many other great and good cricketers who can also be suspected in match fixing. Its an harsh opinion on Azhar still he is maintaining his silence is his positive attitude else he too might have done something as Ganguly did when he was dropped from the squad. Azhar is still waiting for his decision and neither he had made any negative comments on anybody till now. His ban should be lifted and I would also like to see my dreams come true as of he should be cleared from the ban and may be for one day international only once i have to see him play once again for INDIA. We would strongly defend Azhar for lifting the ban and to see him again on field.
