No where is any tournament are qualifiers a part of the main draw / tournament. Tennis tournaments being a prime example. The Tournaments start only after the qualifiers have qualified for the main draw by making the cut. The reason is simple: Either the matches are one sided, or there isnt enough quality to display. This is precisely the case with the Champions trophy qualifiers. In a bis to make money, the organizers have shamelessly included the qualifying draw as part of the tournament... what happens then?? well a batsman like Tharanga keeps getting hundreds, we switch on the channel only to watch a really exciting battle between Sri lanka and Zimbabwe... or better we are now waiting for Zimbabwe Vs Bangladesh. Come on guys, kucch to sharam karo.
On teh other hand, it really paions me to see what has happened to a good team like Zimbabwe. political turmoil in the country means that a team that when in full flow was just starting to threaten the best teams, now is the weakest in teh world. Really feel very bad for them.
