Don't Blame Chappell: Sehwag

Sir: I really appreciate Sehwag's sincerity and honesty notwithstanding his inability to get runs.

The Indian Psyche has always been to find a SCAPECOATS for all our ills and this Chappell affair is a classic case in point. What can the coach do if his wards fail to perform? He cetrainly can not go out and bat for them. Coach is a facilitator and the captain steers the ship. I think Rahul has utterly failed as a skipper if not as a solid batsman. Maybe a new captain can turn things around.

The speaker of the LOK Sabha, Mr. Somnath Chatterjee should take it easy and concerntrate on running the house. Why is he so upset with Chappell? Aren't we a free country? Are we not allowed to exhibit dissent? Is Chappell not entitled to his opinion on MPs? Are we living in the erstwhile U S S R? Is the big brother always watching us?

But SOMNATH afterall is a communist and COMMUNISM does not tolerate dissent. Hence all this irritation with CHAPPELL!!!!!

While I agree that chappel cannot be blamed totally for the heavy defeats, what needs to be understood here is that chappel came with a storm, ousted a very successful captain, posted a puppet captain, and made it look like he is going to take complete charge and transform the team into perpetual winners. This created a lot of expectation. That, sadly, remains undelivered.
.
India continues to flounder under pressure. We have gone back to the pre-ganguly/wright days. Chappel got a prepared team (unlike Wright), high on morale and success. From that position, India was expected to perform better, not perish.
.
Another point is: if India were successful, who would have got the credit? I doubt Dravid's captaincy and the country knows that. Chappel would have got the credit. So, he is getting the brickbats, too. Isn't that fair?

coach

chapell is a tough coach and mostly admired by cricket circles all over world as he was considered one of the best captains Austalia has produced but problem is with indian cricket and politics .as per greg chapell indians are impatient and want results overnight but if u want to get long term results u hv to work hard and wait.he further added tht it took them 10 years to make the system from 80's to 90's to make plan how to train players and make them tough and fighting.

so coach is not to be blammed at all rather it good luck for indian cricket to hv coach like guru greg and they should encash this oppurtunity so tht future cricket gives us good results.

I agree that no body should blame Chappel. See bottom line is that Our team is presently not Internationally competent. Who had stopped Sachin, Dravid, Sahwag, or Other senior players to perform? If no body is performing then what chappal or any body can do? WE more than 100 crore peoples pray for our team and you say that one Australian man has more influence over them. It is ridiculous, just blame ourselves and hope the team will do well. Chappel is just a scapegoat....

Its totally false to blame chappel for the poor performance of the indian cricket team in south africa. When has india played well in abroad.people forget the players performance & blame the coach.if india has to perform we need hard hitting batsman & bowlers who can threaten the bats man at everyball like wasim akram of pakistan.
