Should Indian cricket team change the strategies of playing the opening batsmen for 10 overs - India WINS
Whether he is Virender/sachin/Ganguly/Laxman.
They has to play 10 overs minimum. Otherwise the captain and Coach should put pressure on the opening pair to perform if not replace them.

Quick solution
by HRS Mani on Nov 27, 2006 10:19 AM

Dravid is sick mentally and physically. So replace him with an youngster in the team. Make Dhoni captain. He only is capable of taking the game to the enemy's territory when the going is bad. Dravid is very frustrating to bat with. He is incapable of scoring in the beginning of the innings itself. He will waste 100 balls for 40 odd runs and expects others to hit the required runs in the remaining balls. .Poor understanding of the game. Compare him with Ponting other captains. You have the solution. Sack him.

Cricket
Captains thought...
by Cricket on Nov 26, 2006 10:48 PM

Greg Chappel: Strong, tough minded, but highly diplomatic and stubborn. Knows how to sell himself.
Policies: Good for Indian Cricket. However, does not have a back-up plan. Instead, he carries on with "trials" far too long.
Experiments: Suresh Raina, carried on for almost 30 ODI, only one good performance-what was the coach thinking? Another Tendulkar up his sleeves? At the cost of losing who, VVS. Laxman? Kaif, far too many shifts in batting order- and his performance is not at par. Did Kaif ask to play at number three? Or was it more like he was ordered to play there? Sounds like a "Yes sir" deal, which is not good. Irfan Pathan, showed good results at number three, probably because most teams did not know his batting abilities- Good find and can be used to surprise the opponents but not consistently, its ridiculous.
Conclusion: Chappel has a mobile policy but he is not mobile himself. He needs to focus on the strength of his players and create a conducive environment. Rather he has put pressure on each player resulting in a hostile environment. My Picks: Tendulkar, Sehwag, Dravid, Yuvraj, Kaif or Laxman, Dhoni, Pathan, Zaheer, Kumble or Bhajji, Munaf or Sreesanth or Aga

Immediate Change of Coach & Captain
by J. Majumdar on Nov 26, 2006 06:32 PM

Cricket lovers in India are truly voicing their deep anguish and major concern on the fate of present performance of so-called well trained and effective team under the coach Greg Chappel and captain Rahul Dravid. Both of them , as it is evident from calamity after calamity in South African tour with such poor performance, has brought down the TEAM INDIA at the lowest possible level. Apart from miserable performable in match after match, there is no courage nor determination to make a true combat, except meek surrender.

This is 180 degs. apart from the TEAM INDIA we have seen under competent stewardship of Sourav Ganguly, who brought the team from its depth, guided and developed a winning combination with high spirit and confidence based on his leadership qaulity. Dravid totally lacks that aspect and hence not fit to be captain. And, for Chappel , less said is better as he has systematically ruined the fabric of the team though his endless experiment at great cost. Who are sufferers ? Indian public and Indian pride !

So, it is high time, BCCI takes realistic stock of the situation before it is to a point of no return to get rid of Chappel and replacement of Dravid !

Drop Kaif Please.
by Ganesh on Nov 25, 2006 09:43 PM

Please drop Kaif. He has been given too long a rope for no avail. Give him some time to overcome the bad oatch and meanwhile give Ganguly, Laxman and Ghambir their well desrved chance.
