This is right that we should pay on basis of the players performance.India win or lost they will be getting money what for them.I can't understand why India is spending so much money for cricket, they can't win at all.India can spend money for other sports.
This kind of performance will ensure that Cricket will go into a inevitable decline. May be then Olympic sports will get the kind of support that is required for India to be a sporting power.
Let us not fool ourselves, even if we win the World Cup (actually a 7-nation tournament), we never be a sports power.
you may have performance based bonus, but not pay. What if Rahul Dravid got a duck and win a game... is he not going to be paid? And what if Anil takes 10 wickets and scores 100... will he be paid 10 times of his sal!!??
come-on no comman man with sense will give such a rubbish talk.
People might go to an extent in saying that the BCCI chairman should be sacked if the team performed well.
If the payment is fixed according to their performance then also our players will not realise about their poor performance and bringing shame to the nation, since they are always sure they will be selected for the next match ( Because of our Political, regional back up and politics)and they will continue to get heafty amount by way of Advertisement> the payment for the match is only pienut for them. the best thing is BANN them from appearing in ads . By this Cricket Tamasha only the TV Channels and the ADVERTISEMENT CO, makes money and no use for the nation. regards crsrinivasan
Criticism was bound to occur. Our cricket team is passing through a phase where even one good performance is played up by the media. This enables the cricketer to earn in endorsements. Endorsements are the root cause of the problems of the performance of our cricket team. The endorsements make them complacent. It is essential that the cricketers prioritise their cricket before other committments. They should be told this in no uncertain terms. It is essential that their basic pay be linked to performance.
its right chappel must not be blamed, players must coime down from the sky and play for the country, same pitch ,, s.african players played a good game, then whom to be blamed , bcci, fr not making bouncy tracks for local matches!!
I full endorse the views of Mr. Manohar. Whenever the team fails we try to put the blame on the juniors e.g Raina's who, to my my mind has got a brilliant future. However, we forget what the senior who have played over 100, 200 or 300 ODIs and have got wealth of experience, have done. After each poor shoing, we immediately start talking about Sourva Ganguly and his brillaint past. I too feel that Sourva at his peak was one of the best batsman in ODIs, in fact even better than Sachin. But times have changed and teams all over have found weaknesses in his batting and have exploied the same. Moreover with age catching on he is one of the worst fielders in world cricket. Same thing can be said about Anil Khumble. Even he has not done anything of special note in the ODIs of late. Nobody is doubting his devotion and dedication to the game. He is a champion bowler but I still feel that there should be no place in ODI team for Saurav and Anil Khumble. As initially told by Greg Chappel ODIs are meant for 11 fitter players and I fully endorse the views. Players like Yuvi's, Raina's & Kaif's etc. who even if fail bring lot of energy and enthusiasm to the team.
If the President of BCCI thinks it was compelling enough reason to ask Mr Dilip Vengsarkar, Chairman of the Selection Committee, to fly to South Africa and convey to the Indian players the heartburn of the countrymen on their confidence-shattering performance, one can imagine how worst it has been, among all the worse performances of the past. And this from a team which was supposedly shaping up for World Cup, 2007! There are some issues we need to address: As too much money is coming their way, are the players lacking in motivation, national pride perhaps coming last? Should there be a cap on their earnings while they are playing? Is the coach (seen reading a booking during the last ODI) not making the right efforts? Is consistent, dependable talent still lacking? If for decades we have known that furious fast pace and short-balls are our problem, can't we tackle it? Do we need to lay out fast tracks to help batsmen and bowlers build their talents from this aspect? Do we continue with average performers beyond a point? Are we consistent with our policies with players like Laxman, Saurav, Sachin? Above all, why are we so inconsistent and 'win' looks like a 'chance'?
The noise by the Parliamentarians over the performance of the Indian cricket team in SA is amusing. Cricket is not the consuming issue in the country. Thee are issues that cry for immediate attention-poverty,ill-health,poor quality of education, terrorism, threat to national soverignity and so on. Our MPs have a knack of boucotting the House when important issues are discussed or waste the nation's time by taking up cases like cricket S.Ramaswamy
