Gary, like you have given our players a good advice to how to play in SA fast pitches, why not ask Jhonty Rhodes also to give some fielding tips to all of our players. This can improve restricting the opponent's total, being more active on the field, and also being better runner between the wickets.Know, Rhodes is the fielding coach of SA.But giving some friendy advices should not offend anybody, we believe!
Gary, your comment is valuable.I had commented earlier in this column, which did not appear.Yes, it needs courage to go behind the ball and hit it to the direction you want it to go.Also if you are playing on your front foot, you get that extra advantage to hit the ball without allowing it to appear on your incovenient position of chest height. It is heartening to note that our boys went behind the ball during the third ODI and even player like Karthik was striking on the front foot. But it needs courage. Thanks for your tips!
Playing on flat pitches at home scoring tons of runs will definitely produce such results.no point calling for the coach's head at this juncture as it will further confuse the team. The senior Cricketers like Sunny,Vengsarkar and Kapil should talk to the team members and bring back the confidence.
Gary, thanks for your remark. It is really on the front foot that our battesmen have to play on such pitches. Also if you are slightly outside the creeze, you get that extra advantage to reach to the ball. This technique is being followed by most of the good battesmen in the world.I wonder why our coach, the great Chappel does not enforce that to our youngsters! If you do not allow the ball to rise to your rib cage, you get that advantage to score. Instead of that we go to our backfoot and give catching practice to your fielders. You look at our Mongia ,Raina,Kaif -- they all look to be fishing outside the offstamp!
