Congratulations Lara! You have brought respect and dignity/cheers to you as well to your country. The contrast, if one may like to see, is available with us. See our Durban dismal performance. May be our players(read brand ambassdors)can't be blamed. Some may like to blame cricket board others may blame Coach and many others may say many other factors for this repetitive negative performance.I understand the use of mobile phones is prohibited while driving since it is felt that it diverts the attention of the driver and the driver is more prone to accidents. Similarly when our players attention and interest is diverted by unending flow of sponsorships/media advertising and they earn huge amount out of this, the results are obvious. Even a peon job while he is employed is fulltime basis(he earns for his time and the rest of the time when he relaxes,it prepares him for next day job with full vigour and alertness. Players after playing a test match or ODI are in hurry to earn from advertising(though they are paid retainership for their time). It exhausts them, thus they don't get time to prepare or do practice.if we really want to improve our game let the industry stop all this branding

This again proves why is called the EMPEROR OF Game.
At this age when many crickets would have passed their prime or retired or complain of Fatigue Lara is Still a Force. The way he is batting shows that the Best of Lara is Still to Come.
May this Enigmatic Genius continue to thrill the crowd world over with his game in the coming years

I believe the first person to achieve this feat was Indian born Ranjitsinghji playing for England (on the third day, moving from 41 not out to 154 not out in just over 2 hours).

What about Sehwag ? I am surprised that he has still not achieved this feat. Hope he does it soon. He is most capable of doing it as compared to others.

Go Veeru Go ! Go for it !

Brian Lara's feat
by M. Shankar on Nov 21, 2006 01:41 PM

Hearty congratulations to the Brilliant Brian Lara on his feat - scoring a 77-ball century before lunch against Pakistan and also for moving up the record breakers' ladder with this 34th Test Hundred. I am sure it's only a matter of days before he catches up with Sachin Tendulkar and then perhaps moves on to the number one slot. It will be interesting to watch if Sachin and Brian Lara start up a race (against time?) to reach newer heights. But whose name do you think will last for long ... up there? Good to see the greats going great guns, youngsters have a lot to learn by emulating such stalwarts.

M. Shankar.
