Leading from the front!

It is always the extra burden to bear when you accept the captaincy. That's why many of our great battesmen didn't turn out to be a great captain.Take the example of Tendulkar.Being captain, his good scores started dried up.It is only great that he realised the same early and we didn't lose our arguably the greatest battesman of all times .The same is true for others as well.Ganguly was a great success when he took over the captaincy. But at the latter stages it started telling on his performances.Kepplers comment is true in this regard. It is you if you have accepted the job,who has to meet tremendous pressure from all sides when you are the captain.Rahul is our best battesman.Should we burden him with this extra responsibility as a captain and restrict his flamboyance in batting! Time only will tell! But it should not be too late. For the time, as everybody agrees, from Kepler Wessels to Sunil Gavaskar to Ajit Wadekar, that Rahul has to lead from the front and there cannot be any body who will share that responsibility. But as Wadekar has pointed out in his recent interview, that if Ganguly is around, it could be a good support to Rahul when the pressure is on.

Dummy Captain
by Dr. S. K. Ghosh on Nov 19, 2006 01:36 PM

Dear Sir,
It would have been better if G. Chappel would have been Indian Captain and Indian Cricket Team would have been selected from Australian Players and Rahul Dravid the Coach for the team and Mr. Sharad Power over all care taker as he is now. Then World Cup 2007 would have been sure shot for India via Australia.Share your valuable comments thinking seriously.

S. K. Ghosh,Hyderabad.

It's Cricket which lead to the fame of every individual in the Indian team. I request my famed players to respect their responsibilty and just give there 100 percent to the game.

Team india record against SA is very bad in last 3 tours. India did not win a series against SA in last 3 tours.the present SA team is playing very agressive and competative cricket and some players are in very good touch. For indian team it will be tough battle
India played 50 odis in SA where India won only 18, lost 30 odis 2 were drawn., team india record against SA is very bad in last 3 tours. dravids captaincy is under screen, team is facing acid test against SA
Under ganguly's captaicny india played 16 odis and won 7 and lost 8 and 1 odi drawn. while under dravid's captaincy india played last year 4 matches 2 won and 2 lost.
It is performance of eleven players will be important than the pitch, coach, staraegy, combination. Many players in team india play to cement their place to next match not for the team victory. Thatswhy team lost in WI, dlf cup and icc champions trophy. dravid is performing consistanly for team from many years and earned nick name as wall but team india is about eleven guys sweating out on field whether it is odi or test Team India has to play a disciplined unit and aggressive cricket Best of luck team India

wessel's comment

First of all this is what the other people think of Indian Cricket team!! A soft team! As we have encountered in the world of politics too, the lack of assertiveness and agression devalues our team in other's estimates. centuries of preaching of non violence and other pseudo values has softened Indian psyche to this extend that players, politicians and even general public express a face of cowardiness to the world. Wake up India! for a nation supposed to be on path to be a major world power such an image wont do. Be aggressive for your goals..go get it tigers!

Kepler wessels and allan donald

Hi
It is rather amusing to hear the comments of these so called former greats. It seems that south africans also learned the art of pulling down a team which tours their country before the tour begins. It is shame on the part of Kepler and donald to attack the opposition in such uncooth manner which shows their attitude and their reading abt the opposition in poor light.
Kepler and Donald mind u guys india reached the finals of world cup held in ur country which ur country could not qualify.
Better turn your microscopes on your team rather than us.we know what we are doing.
In sidhu's terms...MIND YOUR BUSINESS.
Wish the indian team will prove evryone wrong and make these "WISE MEN" eat humble pie like how moin khan ate...last year...
Thanks
Jerald

S.AFRICA TOUR
by jyoti kanungo on Nov 18, 2006 10:15 PM

Indian team does not look like a world-beater and their performance in S.Africa has been dismal. The weakness still persists. With aging Sachin, diffident Sehwag it is going to be uphill task. One thing we can do. We can unleash our nascent pace brigade on S.Africa batsmen. We must ask them to increase pace and aim at ribs even though it means some additional runs. You must surprise them and they will be scared. And ask Tendulkar and Sehwag to go after them even if they score 20 that must come from six balls.
