I think selectors should be blamed for such a disgrace
my opinion for the team selection is that we should have 20 strong players instead of 30 or 20 probables selected zone wise in the begining of a season.
Top 20 players must be rotated and the players failing on 3 successive occassions must be replaced by other waiting in the wing
AND BRING BACK SOURAV GANGULY. give him half the no. of chances than Suresh Raina

Always Amre
by ramprasad on Nov 24, 2006 09:27 PM

Everytime we head for SA, there is bound to be one or two Interviews with Amre. 16 odd years since he scored that century on debug, there are not many other happy stories in SA for us to revisit. Sad tale.

The future looks bleak....

Last year the indian fans were ga-ga over the wins the team had at home. At one point we looked as if we are the best team to chase a total in one day cricket and everyone became an ardent fan of chappel and a betenoire of ganguly.
Among all the wins we had in India and Pakistan over the last year and while even Gautam Gambhir was in form and scoring centuries by the dozen, we lost a match against the visiting south africans at the Eden garden in Kolkata. The curator had left a little bit of grass on the pitch and More and Chappel were real upset about it. Well we haven't had another cricket match at the Eden after that. But thats another topic.
The in-form chappel coached , Dravid led team lost to the second string south african side by 10 wickets. Had the indian fans analyzed the situation then, they would have been better prepared for the world cup.
Without Laxman, Ganguli and Zaheer India won't even reach the world cup quater finals. Forget about winning it. And Chappel should go for the good of indian cricket.

amre was in great from
by kshitij on Nov 22, 2006 03:18 PM

yes ,amre was in great form in 1992, and for a mumbai lad to score a century in his debut at durban, was a great thing, i had watched this match and he troubled the southafrican bowlers, that was a innings of grit, and it showed a lot pf patience and commitment, which the present team is lacking

Amre was brillant at S Africa
by manish on Nov 17, 2006 02:58 AM

Amre did scored century on his debu. And must i say so do our Mr. Vijay with the blast & blows from the Message Board.
Cricket is S. Africa was never easy. And Proteas are tiger in their yard. They will outclass current Indian Team in Fielding ( as we are missing Yuvraj)In blowing (Munnaf is now a Medium Pace) In batting (Sachin plays at home, rarely). Dravid can play as he is most techincal right player; but rest won't. Agreed Ganguly had highest Average; but 3 captains can't be in team. 1. On Paper captain(Dravid) 2. Background captain(Chapple) 3. Ex-captain (Ganguly) whose presence will make the other players as there captain is back..

Ganguly should be brought back for Test at S. Africa or else we won't be able to draw the test. Recall the Test at S.A were Players like Cullilan & Rain god stood against India victory in Test at S. Africa..

south african attack not threatening!!!
by drskl on Nov 17, 2006 12:30 AM

as i was reading this article our batting was in tatters vs rest of south africa - and this attack was without shaun pollock and ntini. we just cannot handle fast bowling.
how many chances will be given to raina?
kudos to greg chappel for still persisting with his theory of 5 bowlers. wether we take 5 or 4 bowlers we will still be easily hit around for 250 - 300.
one day is largely a batsman's game so pack urself with people who can bat. u cannot have a long tail.
but chappel refuses to understand this.
selectors - please don't wait till the world cup - SACK HIM NOW.
