Raunak Yadav
World cup 2007
by Raunak Yadav on Nov 14, 2006 08:06 AM

My name is Raunak Yadav from Indonesia, I only want to ask from Mr. Greg Chappell that can he show a small trailer of victory (for Indian cricket team of a tournament) before world before 2007 is on. Please stop all your experiments and just be practical and put your 100% before world cup. Indians are really wanted to see victory so that in coming world cup they can favour Mr. Greg Chappell also.

I think greg is right on what he had to say about perception of others. While the world is focussed on results, no one cna show what is happening behind the scens and what each player is learning as an individual and growing. That is priceless. It is a great opportunity for the team and it will be great if whe whole team with out any clutters or judegments in their mind see "what is" clearly and play accordingly. In other words face problems, be alert and aware on the pitch.whether u succeed or fail is irrelevant. what really matters is being there totally. all the best to the indian team. no matter what u do( win or lose) I truly have learned a lot from u guys.keep inspiring!!

Most of the players in the team are team are lazy.Perhaps Dravid has broken the record of run out of Inzy.We rarely see the batsman at bowling and to take the start. this is because Indians are wary of running. They very rarily score 3 runs, convert 3,s to2, 2,s to singles. Only dravid is capable of rotating the strike, but he is poor runner.
Another fault with Indian batsmen is poor footwork. this is also a sign of lazyness. They are afraid of being hit by rising ball because of lack of courage.
Perhaps Sunny could make them learn to face the fast and rising balls. The bowlers bowl and lower sped now compared to 30yrs back, still with helmet on heads, our batsmen protect themselves by raising the bat,and popping up catch. In seventees there were no helmets and no restrictions on bowling bouncers. The key is to keep eye on the ball.
Going to parties and making huge amount of money by not playing but attending fashion paraded and taking part is major cause of laxity in part of players. The board should take clue from China and take suitable action. However the board itself is indulging in making money only.

Go Retire !!
by SAM on Nov 14, 2006 04:13 AM

Greg, when you came in, the team was performing at its peak. We had tigers like Sachin, Sehwag, Rahul, Yuvi, Kaif, Dhoni, Pathan and most of them played the last world cup with winning it almost. You have managed to slump the team and make sheep out of them. We simply can't see the body language of the team anymore. They don't have the winning attitude left. We don't understand what are your experiments and if there are any show us the data for the time you have worked and your approach atleast (we are not asking you to reveal everything). We expect you must have shared something with BCCI Atleast. If yes, Why is there not a single spokesperson for you from the BCCI saying you are right. The results of the last two series were just enough to show that we are down to dust (courtesy you). Please quit !! the team would put up a fight in worldcup if you handover to someone like Kapil and probably win it too.

Chappels interview

Why not Indian cricket team have an Indian coach?
Why not Sandip Patil? He has done a good job with U-19 Indians who won the world cup and also with Kenya who are into semis in the last world cup.
Why we always depends on other countrymen? Why not BCCI think of it?

Sandeep Patil is good for Kenya only.

Earlier for a short duration, we had Anshuman Gaekwad.... Indian coaches ( not all.. as there could be a few excellent professionals) are fit for free ride/ tours, good money, giving vague reasons for failures and finally NO RESULTS.

Foregin coaches, usually are aware of their task in hand.. again they should also be selected carefully based on Merit.
GREG rightfully deserved the credit.. and hence is the coach for Indian team.

Finally its the players.. who need to obey the coach and give full attention to their tasks.

Greg also had said that these Indian players ( except for a few) waste their time... with their electronic gadgets..

ITs high time, the guys selected for the task deliver. They only want to be there.. for name, fame and above all MONEY.

West Indies or NZ players may not get the same amount of money, what our Indian players get.. but their commitment is far beyond our team by leaps and bounds.

Coach shoud be like Kapil dev or Wasim Akram or Aqib
Javed. So far I know Wasim and Aqib both they like
India and try to coach the junior Indian Cricketers.
They understand cricket and the killer instinct in
bowling, may be with their help we will get some good
bowlers. And I am sure the power given to that Greig,
if we give the same power to anyone of the abv then
India will deliver the challenge to Australia,South
Africa,But the coach shd say who will be the captain
not the selection committee,as selection committee
already prooved that their target is not to make
strong Indian team but to play politics and earn
money somehow.
Comments invited from u,if u hate politics.

On chances of India in South Africa
by Tapajyoti Sarkar on Nov 13, 2006 11:32 PM

I agree on many aspects of Greg Chappels statement. though india is going thru' some bad patch collectively, that to some extent may be attributable to lack of quality players like Kumble, Zahir Khan etc who are now in South Africa bound indian team.

with world cup knocking at the door, india now should adopt a very professional method of unbiasdly gauging its opportunities and chancs at the Carribian.

But they should take one thing at a time and now the SA tour is of primary importance; I feel rahul Dravid should perform the captaincy in a free mind devoid of any pressure from press or media. He should be giving due importance on performance only and form and should only give chance to players who are performing or are in a good form. If that means leaving aside the likes of Shewag, kaif, Pathan etc, so be it.

india under john wright were well placed they played well in ct 2002 and natwest trophy final in 02 , reached final of 2003 wc which every body expected so know frankly speaking with the way we are performing it will be strange if india could make it to semi final of world cup 2007
