Defenitely Vensarkar sir Ganguly must be consistant in all the matches but not Shewag not Tendulkar not Pathan. What standards are you setting for Ganguly. Please sir don't follow that Aussie Burger he is here to ruin us. About 50 years the English followed the policy of divide and rule and now this fellow (Creg) is doing the same thing and we are not doing nothing just blindly following. Our team was so unite but now you are seeing sir the main shocking thing is that even Dravid didn't back his captain, shame on him and Tendulkar too as he too was not there when required. I request you please take necessary steps for the betterment of Indian cricket, please don't let it be down.

Mr.vensarkar -a quick learner
by curious guy on Nov 11, 2006 05:24 PM  | Hide replies

mr vensarkar knows how to retain his job-forget about india winning or losing.

bringing ganguly back into the team would cost him his job. he knows that.

he reframed the statement of kiran more in a subtle way - more's statement ( no chance for ganguly as long as his committee stays in charge) was raw and straightforward.

what do you mean by consistency? Does ganguly and laxman needs to prove anything more? come on guys.

we all know what is happening.

Mr. Vensarkar - a lot was expected from you but you have disappointed true Indian cricket fans.Kudos to you.

Hi,
First of all, Vengsarkar quickly added that his statement on consistency applies to all and not just these two people.
I feel Vengsarkar needs some more time to do well. But he had shown some promise by bringing Kumble and Zaheer back in to team. Zaheer was continuously ignored for no reason even after fantastic performances in Country cricket. Kumble never failed but was out of ODIs for no reason and remember he is the top wicket taker for India in one dayers.
Bringing these two people is a good sign and even trying Jaffer is a signal to show other team members that if the regular members of team fail on regular basis, selectors will take bold steps. In fact I feel this is a warning to Sehwag that Jaffer may open with Sachin in onedays in case of a couple of failures from Sehwag. Now the question may be that, why not Ganguly or VVS in place of Jaffer or Dinesh Kartik (who replaced Yuvraj)? Ganguly didnt show any promise in the last one year in any form of cricket. A person out of the team cant return on basis of history whereas a person in the team can have some chances. If Ganguly adds a couple of centuries to recent 118, Vengsarkar will be comfortable to standby him.

by sreenivasareddy on Nov 09, 2006 04:29 PM

hello sir

What you are saying is good about consistency .but u know what consistency was shown by shewag.its all bullshit from selectors and u have to remove coach chapel and try to keep coach from india.always coach should be indian to have great spirit from inside the heart.please consider my message and change coach and change the players who are not consistent.

better to have exp and seniour players like gangully in the team and its suggestion to give captancy to person who Bowls well with average batting .i think kumble is best captain for india .indian selectors are doing lot of experiments on team selection wha not u can try captancy with anil kumble.please dont put pressure on good batsmans by giving captancy.

better bring gangully back in to team its always nice idea to bring back gagully.

please consider my message and i am very much worried about our nation sporting spirit.

Sincierly
Cnu

Can we have the comparitive for comparison with the current favourites in the Indian middle order
namely Yuvraj, Raina and Kaif apart from Sachin and Sehwag for the last 10 ODI's respectively in each case to understand Vengsarkar's concern of lack of consistency in tha case of Saurav and VVS.

Wihtout going into the details I can assure you that same yardstick is not being used in the interest of fairplay and justice.
I do not see this Indian team entering the semi's of the World Cup without Saurav,VVS and Kumble let alone winning thw World cup.
Soon after the current ODI series with SA we will see the selectors run for cover as the the current batsmen retreat from the onslaught of Ntini and Co.saving grace being Rahul. This will be the real test.

Well said Mr.Vengsarkar.Gangulys handred is the first in a year for ganguly, hey wait, not in international but at doemestic matches. so pls stop dreaming ganguly back at the team india. He should be consistent with his performance. Gambhir has 3 or 4 hundreds during the same time and few fifties to boost his chances ahead of ganguly.

Consistency
by Hemanta Bhattacharya on Nov 09, 2006 09:34 AM

Your message of consistency is most appropriate. But it should be for all! All means including selectors. Why Greg Chappel consitently put Irfan Pathan to bat at no.3?Why Kiran More consistently try to push players from his academy in spite of their repeated failures! Why bowlers like R.P.Singh find their place as a fast bowler, consistently! Does Kiran More care to answer these questions! If consistency is the key word, does it not apply to Raina,Kaif, even Mongia! How long you can ignore players of the calibre of Kumble,Sourav and VVS!

Vengsarkar--consistency
by Hemanta Bhattacharya on Nov 09, 2006 08:46 AM

Colonel,I agree with your view that Saurav and Lakhsman need to be consistent with their batting. But the same is true for everybody to keep their place in the team.Your predecessor must have forgotten this fact out of some personal grudge or other reason not known to us.Out of this shear arrogance, they picked up players( I don't want to name them), who are good in club cricket or maximum state level cricket. It is time Colonel, you rectify this faulty system and bring back players like VVS,Ganguly,Kumble whose need in the Indian team of today can only be compared with gold!Ask them to become consistent but please don't ignore them.

''Ganguly, Laxman should be more consistent'': Well said !
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on Nov 09, 2006 01:18 AM

Consistency was the hallmark of many a great Indian batsman for decades. Mr.Dilip Vengsarkar himself, Sunny, Dilip Sardesai, Pataudi, Chetan Chauhan, Wadekar, Vishy, Mohinder, Anshuman, Azhar and a few others were models of consistent performances match after match for years. The massive totals they put on the board used to provide fine platforms for our bowlers to go for the kill. The elegant square cuts, hooks, forceful shots all around the wicket, defensive techniques for the backfoot and frontfoot requirements were indeed timely that depicted supreme confidence in their craft.

Such consistency has been lacking in our batsmen nowadays. In the recent ICC awards ceremony none of our cricketers were able to lay their hands on any silverware.

Our batsmen in the top half of the batting line up need to click and play consistent knocks and put up totals of some challenge. In the last half a year defeats in West Indies, Malaysia and at home have fully exposed the brittle nature of our frontline batters. In fact many of them have been consistently failing and putting extra pressure on our tailenders to deliver doubly.

Consistency is the need of the hour for our boys.
