Speed should mind his own business
by Ranjit on Nov 04, 2006 10:08 PM

Speed should better concentt rate on administration , rather than having different rules for Asian countries.
He has no right to talk about Indian Team perfromance / Indian population .
Again, It shows how biased ICC personnels are

That is all they are - full of words, the ICC, Thomson said.

That is all they are - full of words, the ICC, Thomson said.

What a great quote from an australian fast bowler. I agree with him totally.

I often wonder, why Mr.Modi goes to the level which is rockbottom. But Mr.Speed revealed his desire from his own hearts as he compared Newzealand with India, that he is biased and have hate towards Indian Cricket and Indians. You deserved Modi and more such Modi's to counter.

I would welcome Mr.Speed to comment about England early exit to the ICC champions trophy.

Come on Babe (Mr. Speed). Go back and do your business in australia.

Thompson quoted about ICC run by Mr.Speed as "What a waste of space".

Mr.Waste, go back.

"mr speed, if u remm india was in finals of last world cup"

Yeah and we merely got thrashed in that final by a country of 17 million rather than a country of 4 million. And why don't you name all the competitions that India 'hav' won which NZ have not?

ICC comments on BCCI
by Ashwin on Nov 01, 2006 11:14 PM

Malcom Speed has no rights to speak on the performance level of any team, his abit is to help run the game, and his comments equating india's economic strength and its performance on ground has no relation.

Imagine if ICC cant make money (70% of ICC revenues coem from Indian subcontinent), thn which cricket teams would be interested to play professionally.

Economics cant be ruled out in this day, and more there is no mopolisation of this economics, wht BCCI is asking is to defend its sphere, on which ICC plans to piggy ride.

Members make ICC, ICC does not make member, and Malcom Speed should understand this.

Encourage other sports in India
by Amar on Nov 01, 2006 10:04 PM

speed had slapped on the face of bcci and the crazy cricket followers of india with his statement "I am not being critical of India. But look at New Zealand, who have a population of 4 million and not much spending power, but they consistently perform well,". The bcci is cashing in on the stupid crazyness of indians on cricket but not doing enough to lift the standard of the game in india. Indian team is consistently loosing to strong teams. we have wone only 3 games against Australia in last 18 months. A win on a weak team makes us forget all other defeats.Instead of giving so much support to a slaves game people should support the games which are played in olympics and winning in those games gives the country a recognition in the world. wonder how many people know sachin in US, Europe(other than UK), china, South America.I am sure more people know "Indian Express"(Paes-Mahesh).

Performance
by Somashekhar Nimbalkar on Nov 01, 2006 07:32 PM

Modi and the BCCI must be definitely right in making a lot of claims. Also the claims of the BCCI should not be linked to team India's fortunes. Speed is bang on target when he says that a board is evaluated by its teams fortunes. Also bcci needs to remember that their revenue is due to market spending which also is dictated by the teams fortunes. Ganguly is not seen in many ads except for the pepsi one (which no one other than ganguly can have the courage to do).
Also there is a hockey team and IHF which are in doldrums along with its popularity. I am sure if the Indian Hockey team consistently wins a many tournaments it has the power to replace cricket.
Finally respect and attention can never be demanded.it has to be earned.

Hahahahaha

Though I dont agree with ICC and Speed about everything, I agree with them on what has been written in this article.
Lalit Modi till he was quiet and staged a revolution in the Rajasthan Cricket Board (Not in the Rajasthan team performance mind you) was a wise man. He opened his mouth and spilled everything. He has time and again proved himself to be a fool and one who puts his foot in this mouth.
Speed is Spot on when he says that its the team performance that matters. In the process he not only pointed out to the fact that the BCCI is ineffective in terms of on-field performance but also that the Indian team is not good.
The BCCI was busy playing politics in April, so ofcourse we dont expect them to look into matters that pertain to Cricket like the MPA and other problems related to the team performance.
Shame BCCI, Shame Indian Team and Shame Shame Lalit Modi.

The last line says it all
by Umesh on Nov 01, 2006 07:09 PM

The last line says it all. It says that India with a lots of Money and 100 crore people does not perform comparably to New Zealand with 4 Million people and very less money.

Maybe we need to work on that.
