RE: Pathan low on confidence
by Trim Pershad on Jun 02, 2006 05:12 AM

Pathan is not a test match winner, he may be OK for one day cricket but for test matches we need someone who can bowl consistenly well throughout and be able to take wickets anytime. Pathan for all the hype is the "first 5-10" overs bowler when the ball is new and the conditions favor swing. Otherwise he is a trundler who bowls slow medium at 120kph and most batsmen play him like a quick spinner. He will find it tough (unless he is able to increase the speed and also be able to swing) in WI. His recent test performances in Pak and India prove this.

There is no genuine quick bowler in India who can take wickets on any surface, not even Munaf who only bowls around 130-135kph average, despite the recent hype in the media about him being able to bowl at 150kph.

The team looks bereft of ideas
by Madhu on Jun 01, 2006 01:44 PM

Pathan looked jaded and tired in the ODI series. Munaf seemed out of his depth, for a guy who came in with a bang against the English. He has to work on his basics too, specially fielding. Sree has to tone down his simulation of Andre Nel and work on his line & length. The wisemen do not want Agarkar in the test squad!!! Well....

The batsmen should adapt faster to these tracks, when to loft and when not. Dravid himself needs to set an example. His captaincy suffered as the team went downhill. A team that looked so mentally strong recently, looked down and out by the 4th match itself....why so?? where's the fighting spirit?
Come on boys, learn from your mistakes and show the Windies what you are made of in the test series.
All the best.

Greg is a Coach/Mentor ?????
by AKS on May 31, 2006 06:11 PM

I hate when ppl use "GURU" for Greg. He is nowhere near being GURU.

He is just greg... straight Greg.

Coming to point..

Coach or Guru, what we expect from them?
Let's first go by their literal meaning.

Coach - who teches you something.
Teach - making some one learn/perform.

Does this anywhere talks about demoralizing someone. Does it's anywhere talks about giving opinions about someone's weakness on Media. That's too your personal opinion.

By all means, Coach is supposed to ONLY make his Team perform. Mentor them. Teach them. and DEFINITELY not to threat them or lamblast them in public media.

What does it gonna do to Pathan .. when Greg says "Pathan is down with Confidence".

Will it Help Pathan improvising. I say .. NOOOO.
It will only make Pathan, that he is really low in confidence. With every failure.. the fear and insecurity will only grow inside him.

But.. Greg doesn't know these basics of Coaching. He is not a Mentor. Greg is just Greg.. a batsman in his life and nothing else.

He is a Goal Setter.. but doesn't know how to achive them.

It's all so visible in his actions and style that he got just NO idea how to make things happen.

Pathan down in confidence

Chappell is loud-mouthed like Ganguly- no wonder the two did not get along well! Like Poles Repel! And now he talks about Pathan- no player who is not performing temporarily would like to be quoted openly his shortcomings-chapell did it with ganguly and got back- but Pathan will withdraw- and this is not good for developing a team - any shortcomings must be pointed out privately-tomorrow he will comment about Dravid-look at the English coach and Australian coach behaviour-Chappell must learn. Nagesh.

Pathan confidence
by JAYESH RAJENDRA MANKAD on May 31, 2006 04:48 PM

Sorry indian team- big name TEAM INDIA but no experience. Repeatation of same mistakes playing out side ball is never improved. Chappell has to teach some lessons otherwise it would be too late for World Cup. The world cup will not be Indians cup of tea.

Players should be banned for working in advertisements 1 year before world cup and should concentrate on cricket only rather than making money from ads.

Anyway good luck

Jayesh Mankad

Every single player of the team shall be down in confidence
by Swarup on May 31, 2006 04:21 PM

Why Patha should not be down in confidence when there is a charecter like Mr Chapell in the dressing room to pull down all the playars confidences. In fact he is there just to create a poisenous atmosphere at the dressing room(exactly the same allegation he made against Mr ganguly) and spoil the entire dressing room situation to bring down the confidence of every individual player. He should be sacked immidiately for not taking the blame of 4-1 series loss against WI.There should be a seperate dressing room for him and he should not allowed to speak to the players apart from his coaching time.

We request the board to look into this matter immidiately.

How long will this drama continue
by Abhijit on May 31, 2006 04:12 PM

Mr Chapell/Mr More/Mr Dravid

When the team left for West Indies, all of you said that you are looking for the future and this team is the future team for india.Tioday when India looses 4-1 to WI,why Mr Dravid is blaming the lack of experience? In case he hints at getting back experienced players like Laxman and Kumble, why not Ganguly?Ganguly has more experience than both Dravid himself and Laxman and no one can substitute his place in the team(whatever may Mr More/Mr Chapell and Mr Dravid say).We have seen Venugopal and Raina. We also blame the board when Dravid is not warened for saying he wants back Tendulkar in team but warns Yuvraj,Shewag and Harbhajan for wanting Mr Ganguly back in the team. How can the board allow such double standards?

These incidents is not only bringing down the future of Indian cricket team,it is also harming the young players whose confidence are being shattered.

We condemn board for not sacking Mr Chapell immidiately.

Regards

Abhijit Das

Down in confidence
by Santosh Bhat on May 31, 2006 02:36 PM

Chappell should understand that we need a proper bowling coach to train the indian bowlers to perform in different conditions. Team management is not taking necessary steps towards it. Chappell should not give unnecessary statements. His job is to coach indian team properly otherwise quit the job thats it. Lot of cricket is also taking toll on players and players are performing below par. By seeing this performance I sincerely belive that Ajit Agarkar should have been prefered than any other bowler. I dont understand why chappell and dravid is quite in this matter. I think dravid is behaving like puppet listening to the words of chappell. He is a captain and he has the right to talk in front of selectors and coach.
