I feel that the high rate of scoring, between three and three point five runs per over in Test Cricket these days is very much connected to the minimum 90 overs per day[earlier it was around 75]and the almost regulation field placements similar to ODIs.with no deep positions tenanted for most of the 90 overs. The batsmen are gifted with boundaries as a result. It is artificial and is the legacy of the aussies who are never happy if the score less that three hundredruns in 90 overs. Conventional field positioning has been given the go-by by almost all the present dsy captains. And to add to this is the batsmen friendly wickets in most of the cricket playing countries.
