Agarkar left out of tests
by Sharath on May 24, 2006 06:19 PM  | Hide replies

Agarkar's omission from the test team is baffling at a time when he seems to be in the best of rhythm and form. And his so called replacemet VRV Singh has not done anything to back his claim so far in the short stint he has recd. But for this, the selection has not thrown up much surprises though Piyush Chawla could have been given a chance considering the fact that West Indians are prone to fail against leggies. But Indians are terribly short on experience in the fast bowling front, though the spin dept is in safe hands. If Agarkar had to be dropped, probably some one like Zaheer Khan could have been considered for his experience plus given the fact that he is in good form in the county circuit.

Agarkar is out of test team

Good point. But agarkar's exclusion is nothing to do with his recent form. Current peformance is no more a criteria - its the "policy" that deciding ones fate now. Rina is included because he is playing well in OD, but Agarakar is not, though he is the best bowler in this series so far. The same way, Zaheer, irrespective of his recent form in county he will not be considered, because he does not suits the "policy". Wish they clarify their policy to the public. But that can happen anyway. Transparency is the last thing BCCI wants.
