Rahul dravid demonstrates once again why he is such an indispensable bulwark of the Indian cricket- a sort of Indian version of Steven waugh. When the chips are down, when the going gets going tough you know whom to rely on to bat for your life.Rahul represents everything that is desirable.maganimity,solidity,reliability.Without sounding like a too obvious dravid fan,let me assert that he is one of the best things to happen to Indian cricket.Hopefully, his example will inspire the younger lot to throw in their weight behind the indian cricket team's effort to secure the holy grail of oneday cricket,The world cup.Success in the championship will secure Dravid's place among the pantheons of the truly cricketing greats

Bowlers were the culprits
by Madhu on May 19, 2006 03:23 PM

Its nice that Dravid defended his bowlers but whoever watched the match knows that Irfan, Munaf and RPS were the culprits, primarily Irfan with his abysmal first over.

Apparently, these guys were not warmed up and ready to bowl expecting the match to be washed off. Whatever the reason, the first three bowlers handed the game to Gayle, who is the type of batsman that can create havoc. If these bowlers do not tighten up, India will lose the series. Irfan, with his slow medium pace, needs to be very accurate. Or else batsmen of the calibre of Gayle, Lara will take him to the cleaners. You can't bowl so many wides and no-balls without paying for it. If not for Agarakar and Bhajji's repair work, WI would have got to 300 in 45 overs and India would have wilted away.

India were lucky to walk away with a win in this match.
