Nothing Wrong with Sehwag
by Ramanan.S.Ve on Oct 17, 2006 02:18 PM

Team India know their responsibilities abt the do's and dont's with media.Any Individual can share their opinion,Thoughts however keeping the severity of the matter. There is nothing going to happen after sehwag's comments.
Aslong as the issue is with respect to Indian cricket Team,In my perception I feel there is nothing wrong in it.If it were ICC issue, there may be chance of controversy.
Anyhow BCCI should take initiatives to filter out the comments before reaching media.

Sehwag, Ganguly and BCCI
by Joy on May 10, 2006 07:36 PM

I am wondering when Chappel told crap about Ganguly to the British Media, was Niranjan Shah that enthisiastic in issuing a verbal warning to Chappel?
I think all players should have a right to express their opinion to the media. Why not? Transparency helps unless off course the bosses are afraid that their misdeeds will be exposed. Grow up Niranjan Shah, why don't you shut up and quit your post and let the Sehwag talk with his bat and mouth.

Gagging Shewag
by Saikat Paul on May 10, 2006 07:01 PM

It is my general observation that whenever players perform and feel that their place in the team is secure they spell out something that comes out straight from their heart(Ganguly in Zimbabwe after scoring a ton, likewise Harbhajan, Yuvraj, Shewag).
On one hand the BCCI talks about transparency, on the other hand its doing all it can to put curtains over all windows which were otherwise open for public viewing, including television airing rights.
BCCI has not changed much from Dalmia way to Pawar way, the puppeteers have changed the puppets(players and the admirers) are the same. Rahul Dravid has been a pathetic recluse(the way he ditched Ganguly) and a lesser mortal with his unsportsmanly conduct on and with his comments off the field. Whatever respect I had for this chap seems to evaporating very fast.
Hats off to an administration (BCCI) who can digest a finger salute overnight, but can transcend any length to crucify an ex-captain. We do have a slave mentality..

There is democracy in India ... But not in BCCI.
by Bhaskar Nautiyal on May 10, 2006 06:10 PM

I dont think that what BCCI is doing is the correct thing. If they are giving chances to New Comers, how can they forget Ganguly, under whose captaincy India reached world cup final? How can anyone forget the India's World cup match against Srilanka when Saurav has scored a brilliant 183*. I think he should be given a proper chance and if he fails to perform then He should be out, but BCCI is giving silly reasons that his presence in the Dressing room is affecting the players physiologically...

I think Sehwag is right I always feel, if we can give chance to Sachin, then we should give chance to Saurav also. Both are the backbone of Indian cricket for decades now.

There is democracy in India ... BUT not in BCCI.

Sports is life in full flow and cricket has the potential to join that flow !
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on May 10, 2006 05:59 PM

Daring and courageous cricket icons like the peerless Sunny, Engineer, late Eknath Solkar, Abid Ali, Mohinder, Vengsarkar, Brijesh, Anshuman, Kapil, Patil, Vishy, Yashpal, Binny, Jadeja, Paras, Srinath, Prasad, and other great stars played their game fearlessly. It was a joy to watch these men bringing glory to the game and to our country. Dravid, Sehwag, Ganguly, Sachin, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Bhajji, Pathan, Kumble and others have the potential to recapture that flame which in recent months has become less resplendent due to reasons other than talent. Cricket and its icons need to be liberated from the current captivity. Sadly the politicians and businessmen are using the cricketers for their own ends. The boys are made voiceless icons and role models. We need to respect our heroes and icons, return to them their dignity, freedom of speech and not use them as circus acrobats and stuntmen performing silently under a foreign ringmaster. Sports they say is played with the heart and the mind. Don't take away the heart of our boys for one another. Young people across the country look for leaders who can relate to them heart to heart. Politicians are not scoring well on the field. Howzzat !
