Ganguly lost in the battle of two aggressive persons
by Cricket fan on May 11, 2006 05:24 AM

Though it is said that Ganguly brought Chappell in but Chappell had been a great player and aggressive player in his time. It is rather impossible for both of them to stay longer together, one had to go.

Had Dalmiya stayed in control, Gangulay would have retained as Captain but reverse happened.

That is bad treatment of a great captain and good player.

Ganguly should have stood in the recent West Bengal Elections and he would have shown his power!

Guys like Sehwag, who has possibly played more cricket than you understands the need for Ganguly better than arm-chair critics like you.
"Gangu Teli"....hmm...nice way to pay respects to a player and captain who took the team to new heights. May be your background and upbringing is responsible for such adjecives. Let the current capain do 50% of what he had done first before you can be-little him.

Ganguly missed?
by sailesh on May 09, 2006 11:48 AM

I think its time to move on with the game. If Ganguly needs to come back he needs to perform in the domestic circuit. You cannot rely always in your past glory. Though it was sad the way he was shown the door, he could have handeled it better and remained in the team. This just shows no one is indespensable and the trend set is good for future of Indian cricket. Probably we can see Ganguly back in action if he performs in the domestic circuit. He will have to put the personal egos down and start from the begnining.

Ganguly is the man who can lead a team
by Raj Govind Valsaraj on May 09, 2006 11:37 AM

Eventhough sometimes Ganguly is out of form, he is the one of the greatest captains of the Cricket history. His ability to lead the team is great. His fielding settings plays acrucial role in the match. Ganguly is a man with great sportsman spirit-which is greater than Dravid. I think the present Bcci president Mr.jagmohan Dalmia is playing a great trick behind the issue between coach Greg Chappel and Ganguly and the medias too. During the play we could see the coach and former skipper talking very well. That means the medias are creating the stories and both the medias and the present BCCI president are having the profit. We can look into the case of Harbajan Singh. Hwas out of form for alot of time. But the BCCi gave him a lot of opputunity. It is also in the case of Ajith Agarkar, Virendar Sehwag, Parthiv Patel, Asish Nehra, etc. Then why they are not giving him enough oppurtunities and why he is disqualified. Look at the following score of Ganguly in the last 5 innings. they are 41, 25,37,39,39. If he is disqualified even with these Scores The whole team must be disqualified. Any way the Prince of Kolkota is a great man with great sportsman spirit, determination and a talented1

Ganguly's Absence
by Nat on May 09, 2006 07:03 AM

I have read different views regarding this issue. I think what goes around comes back. Do you people remember how Ganguly treated a talented cricker. Want to know who it was??? Nayan Mongia.... The best wicket keeper India had then. He was left out just because of Ganguly and some petty people were tried and noone showed promise to stay there long. Nayan Mongia is a decent batsman and a excellent keeper. Ganguly was on high and clearly omitted him.Now the tides have turned and he is on the receiving end now. I don't want to say he should not get back in the team, but Team India is larger than a individual. When we have soo many gifted players and youngsters in the line why should he be given the chance??? Selectors are quite correct about looking into the future than pondering about the Ganguly issue.....
