why shouldn't the public boo?
by 10dlya fan on Mar 27, 2006 02:10 PM  | Hide replies

In our country especially, cricket is a mass entertainment. A successful player gets adulation beyond what is deserved. So what if he is booed when he fails.
That is the price one should be willing to pay for all the adulation showered on him in better times.
From Sachin's point of view, I think it will be good for him. The stars should be brought down to earth now and then to motivate them to perform rather than taking their fans for granted.

Shame on those who boed Sachin.
by Santhosh on Mar 27, 2006 11:53 PM
I couldn't digest the fact that it came from a Mumbai crowd. Let me ask a simple question...Whenever India loses..is it the fault of the batsmen.. can't it be that the opponent team's bowlers bowled well, or that unfortunately for some batsmen.. they mistimed their shot by a fraction of a sec..( like Sachin..in second inns it would have been an easy on drive .. but for the small mistiming). Technicalities apart.. for those who see cricketers as gladiators in the arena... Would you boo your son if he was playing on the field, just to motivate... I pity poeple who let off politicians .. who have to be boed day in and day out for their performance. Cricket is a game.. enjoy it.. don't expect it to get you money!!!!!

Sachin booers were mad
by Kamal Kant Mishra on Mar 27, 2006 12:28 PM  | Hide replies

It is unfortunate to hoot sachin. His performance is still better than most of the batsmen in the team. Definitely at this time he is not in terrific form as earlier. I hope he will be in the same form soon. He is a good perforemer as opener, but now a days he is sent at lower order. I hope he will perform much better as opener in both one dayers and test matches.
Today, even if Sachin gets out, most viewer leave the screen.

easy to criticize
by ravi cr on Mar 27, 2006 12:04 PM

Criticism is the easiest thing in the world .. and in india, public memory is the shortest .. the writer of this article seems to highlight the dismissals of dravid and sachin by rank newcomers .. whereas , the world knows the class and and talent of these two stalwarts who have won many a heart the world over ..

Indian media lacks balance in their criticisms which they need to rectify, otherwise i don't think every one would take them seriuosly ..

Let's keep apart all such prejudices and wish the team well for the 1 day series and the future tour .. let's back them up when they are down instead of pulling them down further ..

Regards

Ravi.

sachin beeing booed

mr. lavakre,

why are people like you so hard on the team when they do poorly. come on now, you don't think that they are trying their best. plus, i don't see you out there playing. oh, i see, you weren't good enough to make the team. stop being a hater. people like you jump on the bandwagon when we do well and get off of it immediately when the team hits a bump. you are a good writer but i do think that you have something against sachin. this is not the first time that you have written something against him. find something else to write on. maybe write on how we don't have to rely on sachin because others are stepping up to the plate. this sachin bashing is getting way too old.

thanks,

anish

Well said Tan. I mean it is hugh time we take our defeats and wins with a perspective. I hate it when we turn our player a 'buch-of-nothings' when they lose a series (or even a game in this caase) and cant stop raving aobut them when they win one series (or a game)
Take the pak tour we gave them punch to punch till the second test. And then we had two bad session and we lost the game. Well even england and Aussies had bad session during the ahses. But the differnce was they had enough games to prove who was better in a longer run. Unfortunately India did not have that. Having said that I dont want say we did not lose or pakis didnt deserve to win. All I am saying our reaction to it was bad. What happens after 3 weeks Indian are hero again-after wining oe dayers.
It's Deja vu all over again. India loses a test and people are questioning everthing, the team, the coach, the captain, the senior players, the policy. Everything!. Watch what happens when India wins the one dayers.
Some times in our love of our games and players we act like a nation full of cricket lovers suffering from alzhymers. Let's be more level headed. I request.

This article doesn't make any sense. The writer uses Tendulkar's name in the headlines just to draw attention even though he mentions a number of other players as well. I don't blame the guy. It is smart business. Use Tendulkar's name in the headlines and you are sure of getting a few thousands of clicks on your article and your editor stays happy. Hell, I wouldn't even know who Arvind Lavakre was if it hadn't been for Tendulkar's name. Mr Lavakre should really thank Tendulkar for keeping his job intact.

Secondly this article merely tells me what sore losers the likes of Mr Lavakre are. Its no secret that the Indian team has done exremely well in the recent past. However, Mr Lavakre would probably like the Indian team to win on each and every occasion. Its a noble desire to have but then one has to keep things in perspective. Its important to give the other team credit as well and accept a loss gracefully. By cricticizing the players so harshly in the media, these guys are only helping in putting on more pressure on the extremely talented players we have. I would suggest just give the team a break.

It is not a suprise
by Sridhar on Mar 26, 2006 03:34 PM

The fact that we Indians bucked under pressure is no big suprise.

If Ganguly has been dropped for non performance, inspite of captining India when the morale - of both players and supporters, Administration and overall everything was at its all time low. There can be no justification for reaining Sachin in the team. It has always been the case with BCCI - where it has applied different yardsticks for different players with a particular bias towards players from Mumbai. What else can justify Sachin's inclusion inspite of repeated non-performance against quality teams. It is good for Indian cricket that he has been excluded for the one dayers. Guess the injury is gods gift to Inidian cricket.
