India's defeat in Mumbai
by Jayant on Mar 23, 2006 06:12 PM

There is a lot of talk about India's abject defeat. All the time I hear how the great Sachin and Sehwag are letting India down. I think however, we need to look from a differnet angle. First the manangement. Greg Chappel again showed how headstrong he is by playing with 5 batsmen, and Dravid showed why as a captain, he still has a mountain to climb. These two factors ensured India's defeat, and we should concentrate on them rather than asking Sachin to be the God saviour. Didn't Chappell know Sachin was off colour and Sehwag off form? What was he doing picking 5 batsmen. The blame lies with Chappell and to some extent Dravid. India was led to the defeat, thanks to Greg. We have criticised Sachin a lot, why not evaluate Chappel? The whole team is in a One Day mode, if Chappel does not know how to coach a Test Team, Why in God's name, does he not go? Boycott called More a joker. What do you say to the employers of Chappell? The problem with Indians is we rever anything that is from outside our country. It is incomprehensible that of all the lines written in the media about Sachin, not one hundredth is written about Greg. Indian media, WAKE UP!!!

India Winning Toss for England to Win
by Bilal Ahmad on Mar 23, 2006 01:44 PM

Toss was the key to England's success. Guru Greg is experimenting too much these days, it is not only Dravid who is to be blamed. After all there must have been some thinking behind it. The Indian Think Tank got it ABSOLUTELY wrong.

Team India thrashed
by Sridhar Sundaram on Mar 23, 2006 10:16 AM

Team India is carrying too many Indian Government employee types - people like Sachin and Sehwag, who know they cannot be fired so have no incentive to perform. Unless we demand consistency from our seniors and super-stars, India will continue to have a mediocre test team.

England win over India
by Nitin Dhiman on Mar 23, 2006 10:07 AM

Sir,

We should take it a part of the game only. England team played well all the five days so they got the win. On the other hand, Indian could not perform according to their ability. Seconly, deciding bowl first after winning the toss by Indian captain seems the adverse decision. Perhaps, Indian Skipper was of the opinion that with five bowlers, he will be in a position to prevent England at minimum score and after having lead in first inning, Indian will not required batting at forth inning.

Anyway, Dravid is getting experience and we should hope for better result in future.

As far as selection of Sachin and Viru is concerned, they are well experience, if there is wrong with them, let them decide themselves

Glad that India lost this match
by Indian on Mar 23, 2006 04:16 AM

I am so tired of politics now with Indian cricket that I am glad we are losing now. I was ardent fan of our team once upon a time. I even was budding cricketer(before I found out I was not that good). But then came match-fixing. Besides that selectors based on regions choosing marathi, bengali etc without giving a damm about team, I think I have had it enough. Can someone explain to me if we apply logic of Ganguly being dropped what are Sachin and Sehwag doing in team ? Oh wait they are from different zones and currently, maratha power group is strong. I am not sure but I still wonder but Sehwag should call his mom from his "reliance" cell phone while Sachin should get some more Pepsi and Visa Power to score more

Third test at Wankhede
by Jameel on Mar 23, 2006 01:21 AM

Even after having a good record against England, Kaif was not taken in the test team. Even after proving himself in the first test, he was not selected.

Further Kaifs inclusion would have certainly made a difference atleast on feild, as there were a lot of catches dropped.

Selectors should definitely learn this and try to avoid such huge mistakes.

The test lost today could be possibly of more relying on the new squad, and leaving out the most experienced team.
