Ganguly's Issue
by Rajendra on Mar 07, 2006 11:43 PM

Hi,
Ganguly is a sports person who has contrubuted so much to Indian cricket that, he has become BEST CAPTAIN OF INDIA. It is not fare to allow Kiran More OR chappel to make any harsh coments on gagnuly. It is not good for CRICKET, not good for CRICKET FANS. BCCI should sericusly think about this....

Bad Idea
by Rajiv Duggal on Mar 07, 2006 11:19 PM

It is a Bad Idea to invite Ganguli because it creates an awkward situation for the current players.Having an ex-captain around tends to do that.Even earlier, Azhar when he was dropped as captain but still playing created a sense of deja vu on the field ( skulking & not mixing with the other players)It certainly didnt help Tendulkar & India`s cause.
Similarly, our selector`s sense of bad timing was exposed ,when they announced the 1 day squad after the 1st days play in Pakistan. The selected players must be feeling uncomfortable for the dropped players because we lost the Test match.(Also, Mr MASTER SULK Ganguly was surely not helping with his tactics.. An ex-captain in the team has never helped India`s cause.)
SO PLEASE SELECTORS>>>> DONT announce teams in the middle or on the eve of important matches. This has happened in the past too. & consign ex-captain`s to the dustbin.

On Ganguly's nvitation
by Nag on Mar 07, 2006 09:20 PM

I do not understand why Ganguly is given so importance by the media and public. When a person is not able to perform well in the ground in a match, whoever it may be should be discarded irrespective of his background or career records. Then only real talent will come out. Otherwise politics will play a major role everywhere. Looks like, those whoever submitting their comments in rediff by supporting Ganguly are blind and they do not even deserve to analyse the situation. May be rather they should look at their own life 1st. Rediff is a website which gets biased a lot in some specific cases. Why is it so? is rediff a news media or a political supporter of specific person. If the later is the case with Rediff, then it does not deserve to be a media for news. Rather it should name biasedrediff.com so that people will be aware of the website and do not visit again or do not take the news displayed on rediff seriously. Why is Ganguly so improtant to Rediff ? I do not know. When Dhalmiya was there, the indian cricket used have lot many politics. Now it is slowly improving and in such instances, rediff like news media is unnecessarily giving wrong publicity to the media about the cricket.

Treat Ganguly with respect
by Anoop on Mar 07, 2006 04:03 PM

I feel Ganguly has not been given the respect he thoroughly deserves. For a person, who is the most successful captain ever, of the nation in which cricket is a relegion, he is being seen as the devil. One should remember that apart from being a good captain, he is also a legendary batsman. He is one of the few handful to score 10000+ runs in ODI's. It was under his captaincy that we beat the aussies, both away and home. How many captains in the modern day can claim that? He was the one who infused the young guns we see now, into the team. Chappel's comments that Ganguly wanted the captainency for financial reasons is very shocking. I'm completely flummoxed by the decision of the selectors ignoring Ganguly for so long. True,he may not be in the best of form. If thats the case, let him play domestic cricket for sometime, so as to allow him to get back into form and then take him back again. And please, media, coach and his crictics, be patient with him. Form is temporary. Class is permanent. And there is no doubt that Ganguly is one of the classiest batsmen ever.

Invitation to Ganguly
by salman on Mar 07, 2006 01:32 PM

Mr Bindra has sent an invitation to Ganguly on behalf of Punjab cricket association. I dont think this is an honour , this is purely a political move by Bindra to confirm Ganguly's retirement, as he is invited along with other Former Captains.

Kiran More - Gift to game of cricket
by Rohan on Mar 07, 2006 12:27 PM

Kiran More..chairman of national selectors has played and WON so many world cups for India..He was a batting genius and also a great tactician..India not only reached many world cup finals but also convincingly won all of them under his captaincy...so if HE says tha Ganguly is finished..then there has to be some substance to it.While the likes of Gavaskars and kapil devs, though feel ganguly is still good, should keep their mouth shut coz the greatest player the game has ever produced..Kiran More..is eligible and only he can take call on careers of some best players that india has ever produced!!!!

Why Ganguly every where
by BHARAT SATISH TALWAR on Mar 07, 2006 10:21 AM

Why you people are giving more and more importance to Ganguly. The Punjab Cricket Association must have invited lot of former Cricket players who have much more than Ganguly. Why the press wants to capitalize the present controvery of Ganguly with the Board.
It should be stopped once for all.

by Manish on Mar 06, 2006 11:51 PM

Kiran More gave some comments on Ganguly that he never come in indian team this is not good for indian cricket. we don't know what Ganguly did? Ganguly was the best captain of india. He is not treating like this. this is very poor stuff showing by the selectors & senior players showing. Very poor. Shame on Indian Selector Kiran More & others.
