'Aussie kinda confidence'
by Deepak Atre on Mar 07, 2006 05:35 PM

Yes! it's true the Team India opted for safety first in this test.To some extent it's fare enough, as the team dont have that 'Aussie kinda confidence' to chase down the target. Moreover they'd lost their last test against Pak, a loss here could have been a major blow.So it's quite natural the way team played.
But what's amusing is, with the kind of 'world class' players in playig eleven, the team is not taking brave decisions to make match of it!
Hope we will see a positive performance in next test.

Rahul, You didn't Try !!
by Cheenachu on Mar 07, 2006 06:13 AM  | Hide replies

You didn't really try, did you, Rahul,to take the challenge offered by Andrew Flintoff? To make a match of it & dominate the English right from the start?
Andrew did the best for the test, infusing life into it with a sporty, albeit risky, declaration at the overnight score.
On the final day,you could have played like the Aussies would have; opened with Veeru & Tendulkar & gone for a blistering run rate like in a one dayer and certainly could have walked off with a terrific victory.
Instead, you opted for a safety first attitude. What a pity !! Time you displayed some guts to meet Aussies in their very own zone !!
Best of luck for the rest of the matches.

This is really funny :) You mean to say England got scared thinking VVS Lakshman, Harbajan and co would score 200 in 20 overs or something. Common man give it a break....

Engaland was the clean winner...you and your negative attitude let us down. You gave up before even trying..

This is a really crappy "Wall" we have in the Indian team, always 100 balls to score 0 runs

COuldn't agree more! Rahul would have increased his scoring rate in the second session and tried to make a match out of it. Instead he preferred to save this match. It shows his attitude. It is the worst piece of captaince I have ever seen.

Is Dravid's stratergy was right in final day?
by Shravan Kumar on Mar 06, 2006 03:15 PM

What wud have happen if Dravid pulled himself down to below in order and set batting line as Sehwag,Jaffer,Irfan,Dhoni, Bajju and regular our big heads? Dravid ate as many as overs in early and then brought Irfan, Dhoni, Bajju to blast the remaining big score with higher required rate..!!! What startergy this is? If Irfan & Dhoni had bit more overs to play and adjust the required runrate... then definately we could have seen India's victory perhaps..! Dravid played & planned to only Draw the match.. ne never showed active & Fast in his scoring rate in his innings except few foundaries during end of his innings. Else he could have try with other capable players. I feel that Dravid denied Indian Victory by his poor startergy..!

Big Blunder
by wilfred on Mar 06, 2006 01:21 AM

India are chasing 368 not 398.It's a 30 runs difference. It's a big blunder. And Mr.Harish it was Tendulkar not Dhoni, who scored quick runs and feared england a bit. I am surprised why Mr Harish has not mentioned abt Tendulkar presence, which could have turned into threat for England has Dhoni not Departed.

wow what a nice speech

dear captain
Don't find the words of praise for you and your team. The complete plan for this test match was absolutely wrong, you can't credit wrong things in from of your shortcomings. No doubt english team is well to do but you are also equipped with six world class batsman, how you was supposed to be dependent on kaif (whose slower strick rate when mixed with your performance resulted in to draw).
Defeat is defeat, either you loose with australia or bangladesh. I has been rather more happy with indian team defeat, if they has tried to win this game on fifth day. If kaif has made same score with more agression. If you has dared to play VRV singh.
But nothing happend and test ended in draw..

india were pathetic !!!
by pratyush on Mar 06, 2006 12:44 AM

i really dont understand how can dravid and co. be so pathetic ; i mean there was this great chnace for a victory when we finished the morning session, i hoped that they will go for the target then after being virtually assured they wont lose. but the batting display was anything but spectacular. if i could not see it on telivison as i was almost bored to death when i said thats why we watch england and australia play a test. india is generally moving to a one day side as srilanka was 5 yrs ago. i bet had some named saurav ganguly been there we would have gone for a victory but dravid showed his leadership ar rather lack of it in englang's first innings when we had them on the mat, and when oppurtunity presented itself on the last day. i mean, a good batting pitch , a great batting line up(man the number goes till 8) and still we limped towards a draw !! so much for an aggressive captain and a coach, named greg chhappel !! its pathetic !!
sorry guys india cant win on pitches prepared by itself which never supported the english team a sinlge bit.
it just feels so bad watching such boring tests and then players ask why dont people tun up for tests ? INTERESTING NA ?

Scare who ?
by Pratim Guha Biswas on Mar 06, 2006 12:26 AM

This is really funny. It is England who gave a scare to India. First of all a depleted side thwarted the English bowlers and the English bowlers in a pitch tailor made for Indian spinners restricted india to 323. Secondly, when the so called counter attack made by the indians started, Harmison and Flintoff reduced them to dummies who were kicked out of the field by some fine spell of fast bowling (Dhoni, Irfan and harbhajan ). The funniest point was when the GREAT tendulkar and captain took the first chance to get out of the situation they got themselves into. They took the light when 12 overs were left and only 4 wickets were left. I dont think this was a counter attack but only a failed foolish experiment by Dravid and Chappell. England emerged out the only winner out of this match.
