This is not an exclusive interview and rediff never cliamed that either. Rediff.com is just reporting whatever Dravid said to whatever cricket organization.

I think you need look into how news organizations work in real life :)

Is India really a world class team???
by Anand Sajnani on Jun 27, 2006 10:31 PM

Mr.Dravid..instead of defending your team, accept your mistakes and try to learn from them
India certainly had a great chance (and a practical one too) to win this match but as always..they gave up too soon
India landed in the West Indies with their eyes set on a complete white wash
Dhoni,Sehwag and many others made wonderful statments on the Opposition
however after losing 1-4 in the one day series..they all seem to be very happy with 3 draws in the test series too.
this attitude and approach will never get them anywhere near to being a world class team which they claim they are!!!!
What India really lacks is the true spirit with which the game should be played
They all should realize that its Our Country which they are representing..
and players, coaches and management who do not have the respect and the correct attitude, should step down and let the deserving candidates take up the task.

better get defeat
by murali krishna on Jun 27, 2006 07:57 PM

i don't think that Dravid decission is correct.we should have to try for the win.this is very good opportunity.sewag and jaffer gave very good opening stand, then why the captain made the game draw.we have world class batsmen in line up.it is better to chase and get defeat instead of draw.

Shameless logic

Dravid was weak in his defence that history prompted him to to go slow and get to a draw . If it would have any team of the class of Australia or for that matter Pakistan they would have definitely won the the test given the situation . Lara could easily measure the situation and knew that the Indian team lacked the winning nerves so took the risk of declaring and we proved him right. It was a spineless team sent from here who showed how selfish each individual can become . Dravid definitely lacs the leadership qualities and the killer instinct to have promoted as the captain , his nickname of the wall is rightly given ,he is a wall whose thoughts are not transmitted to the team in a proper manner. It was such a waste of time seeing the players give up at 2Am IST in the morning. Yuvraj wasted 24 balls to score his 1st run . Harbhajan should have have been sent instead of him. Ganguly should definitely be recalled and made the captain once again to infuse the fighting spirit of the team lest we end inthe bottom with Bangladesh to compete with in the future .

Timid Indians with a timid captain
by Madhu on Jun 27, 2006 05:37 PM

Yuvraj of this series is diametrically opposite of the flamboyant match winner we saw in Pak.

Seeing the totally out of form Yuvraj coming in after Dhoni was a clear indication that Mr Dravid, the wall, had thrown in his towel. It was a disgraceful and sad spectacle.

Why not send in someone like Bhajji who can hit some lusty blows and try his luck, at least to scare Lara and team?? Dravid loses out in strategies against rival captains, in which, Ganguly was definitely head and shoulders above. Downing the shutters with 20 overs to go was so maddening that I switched off the TV not wishing to lose sleep over this farce.

Ijndia-WI Test

Overall, the middle order batsmen should own up responsibility for the dismal performance. When one goes through lean patch, the cadinal rule should be stay on the wicket and then get runs. Do they forget that they are playing test match?

Laxman did well, no doubt. The cavalier manner in which he go out in the first innings shows that he was aiming more towards his goal rather than team's target; otherwise why should such an experienced guy go and hit a wide ball worth leaving without any foot movement?

No doubt bowles did well, but the capital failed to utilized available bowling resources judiciously.

Its shame on India again.....
by senthil on Jun 27, 2006 05:06 PM  | Hide replies

Its a shame on dravid as he didn't even try to score just 149 runs from 25 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Atleast he could have tried till 6th wicket fell... he is as pusillanimous as normal human being....he at the helm of the Indian cricket should have certainly gone for it. Though he can defend his decision for playing out a draw, he wasted a very best opppurtunity to guide India to overseas test serious victory. Hello.....dravid, do have patience but not always. Just think it if its a case with Aussie, Pak, Eng what they could have done.......
