ICC statement
by setturam on Jun 26, 2006 05:43 PM

Why should ICC be affended by the comments by racism claims when it is so crystal clear on every occassion. Instead they should do some soul searching and take corrective action. No need to just say we are affended-they should do more things to prove that they are not racist in their approach. Day in day out it is happening on the cricket field. Urgent action is needed lest asian countries are forced to form their association and and dictate in future just about every thing.

Speed u said that because u afriad of business loss
by Prabin on Jun 22, 2006 02:37 PM

All that business thoughts SPEED mantioned is true. Yet ICC is very biaesed about Asian Countries. Recent example is LARA chapter. If any Indian or Pakistani player had done that he might be expeled for ateast 5 ODIs. This what ICC is rule about.
ICC chief is an Asian because he can bring business for ICC. Thats all.

See the History , and how playesr are punished you can cocnlude yourself Mr. Speed.

ICC offended by racism claims
by labrea on Jun 19, 2006 08:20 PM

ICC, until very recently was a kind of exclusive Eurocentic gentlemans club, which patronizingly allowed the 'brownies' to play in their league while pretending to let them have some say, and, contrary to Mr Speed's denials, to a large extent, Eurocentrics still try to mentain control. Also, one could ask Why Dubai? Is Dubai a major cricketing nation? Why not India? Because the Pak and B'desh fundamentalist Muslimeen will never allow the ICC be located in India nor will India accept it being in Pak or B'desh. That's why Dubai.

Why offended?
by Simon on Jun 19, 2006 06:16 PM

Why offended? The racist attitude agains Indians (Sehwag) and Sri Lankans (Jayawardene) was revealed clearly by not taking action against Lara. On top of that trying to justify it by some ridiculous reasoning. ICC is racist.

But it is indeed racist
by R K Iyer on Jun 19, 2006 02:25 PM

ICC's racist behavious was so blatantly evident during the Mike Dennis affair that occurred during a test series between India and South Africa during 2001 - 02. If they are offended by being accused of being racist, then we are even more deeply offended by their being racist!

Racism Claims
by K. Jayaraman on Jun 19, 2006 02:18 PM

What Wasim Akram told yester year is cent per cent correct. Mr.Speed of ICC came to the rescue for the shabby decisions at Windies during the Indo-Windies Tests. Mr. Speed pointed out that chairman and heads of other Committees are Asian and also made a strong reason stating now in Dubai near to Asian Countries. What for all these happened. The dummy heads of committees cannot take decisions. Even a wrong decision in a test/one-day match, the heads of the committee, the so-called Asian Members not able to object, revert the decisions or raise vehemently their voices. ICC is considering Money and that is why it is now in Asia with dummy heads of the Committees. Can Mr. Speed point out or explain why the punishment to Shewag and nothing to Lara. Not only that they are appreciating Lara for maintaining the spirit of the game. Rubbish. Only Money nothing else for the ICC and they will continue to treat the Asians and no wonder in future they may separate rules for Asians and the rest of the world. Only solution for the step-motherly treatment, all the players, well wishers, partons of Asian countries should start a separate body i.e. Asian Cricket Council

Hub is useless if someone else is calling shots.
by perl57 on Jun 18, 2006 06:36 PM

The problem is that ICC has given too much power to umpires. They should be held responsible for stupid behavior and lousy decisions like Darrel Harper's Head Over Wicket of Sachin against McGrath. Cut their fee if they give wrong decision. That will teach people such as Steve "blind" bucknor and Billy Bowden a lesson. If umpires are humans as some commentators say then so are players. They aint machines. Their careers are on life when playing for India. And who invented the term "Excessive Appealing"? If umpires do not give a plumb in front LBW out why would anyone keep quite? I still remember how srikanth was given out when bowler raised his hand and no one in the entire ground WHISPERED in Oz. ICC should cut this cheapo sucker talk of getting offended. They are gaining money from the hub so it is time they should respect that hub. I hated dalmiya when he made sachin walk for a run out he never was in calcutta. He was the then ICC chief and I can imagine pakistan's situation now. So it does not matter who is at the helm. If speed thinks what he has done here, he would clearly understand that he has let a legend get life while a fierce warrior was punished.

So what
by darakhsha on Jun 18, 2006 10:59 AM

So what if ICC feels offended, haven't they thought how many times their referees have offended the feelings of the Asian countries by their biased decisions. We have, in fact, two kinds of morality side by side; one which we preach but do not practise, and another which we practise but seldom preach.Mr Speed as well as the referees also have these 2 moralities and they are putting it to use quite astutely.I hope the ICC gives a word or 2 of advice to its referees and preach about equality to them too.

ICC is Racist
by J.N.Mahanty on Jun 18, 2006 09:18 AM

Speed and his Company appears to be racist and biased against the nations of the Indian Subcontinent, notwithstanding Speed's comments to the contrary.

ICC or for that matter, any bunch of persons, will be judged by their actions and not by their Speech.

The recent event, where Lara was allowed to go scot free despite his arguments with the Umpires and even holding up the Match for 15 minutes, while Sehwag was peanalised for alleged appealing too much.

Such action by ICC is totally unacceptable and the Cricket Fans from Indian Subcontinent would be constrained to brand ICC as a Racist Body, violating human rights and indulging in Double Standards.

Indian Cricket Board must take action against such discrimination by ICC and bring justice to the Indians and fans of Indian Subcontinent.
