The Law is an ass
by Salil Kader on Jun 11, 2006 05:20 PM

The ICC is hell bent upon proving that the laws made by it are actually meant for fools. The manner in which the ICC's Dave Richardson defended Lara's action is nothing but double standards. This is in contrast to the fines imposed on Sehwag and earlier on Mahela Jayawardene (3rd Test Vs England). Both Mahela and Sehwag had immediately apologised for their actions. Richardson says Lara's reaction "showed a little frustration but it was borne out of circumstances". Going by that logic, even Mahela's action of hitting the stumps with his bat on getting out could have been out of 'frustration borne out of circumstances'. Why was he fined then? Isnt this double standards? It absolutely is ! Lara was goading Dhoni to walk off the field on a matter which had been referred to third umpire. This itself should have been reason enuff to pubish Lara. What business does he have interfering with umpiring decisions? The ICC, which as it is commands little respect from nations like Australia and India, will only end up losing whatever little credibility it has by handling issues in the manner it is right now. Time to wake up folks !

We Don't Need A Crystal Ball

The matter is very Clear. The Third Umpire Blundered. Perhaps he was not thorough with the Rule Book. Or else he was afraid to take decision. This came out very clearly when The Australian Umpire doing field duty spoke to the TV Crew.

"The Matter was 'Referred' and Not sent for 'consultation'". The third umpire should have pressed the Button that gives the Benefit of Doubt to the Batsman.

ICC idiots
by Danny on Jun 11, 2006 09:17 AM

The truth is that the ICC is run by a bunch of idiots. Did they take any action against the match referee or the third empire for the delays in the decision. The only explanation that one can truly give, is that Lara was frustrated at the way Dhoni was treating his bowlers and did not want India to gain a huge lead. Have another Organisation that has more sense to run World Cricket.

total bull*rap!!!! why sehwag rapped and lara defended ?
by rayker on Jun 11, 2006 02:42 AM

its a whole load of favouritism. well, lara was just plain guilty of dissent. because he happens to have a stature , he has been spared. its utter nonsense. it doesnt make any sense to punsh sehwag and let lara go off. if sehwag can be punished, lara should and must be punished. let it be frustration or anything in this world. they cant have 2 rules. probably the lara incident wouldnt have been highlighted - if sehwag was let go. its total *rap.

Bullshit ......... !!
by Rohit on Jun 10, 2006 08:49 PM

Who the hell is Dave Richardson (ICC - Gen. Mgr.) to speak on behalf (and in defence) of Brian Lara in order to justify his wrong doing ...... its completely crap ....... i bet had it been one of the Indians (eg. Ganguly, Dravid or even Tendulkar) no matter how reknowned ("famed")they are, they would have been heavily fined for their respective dissent (a match ban or two) ........ i strongly think that the "ICC" are being strongly biased in this particular matter ...... its absolutely ridiculous and acceptable ....... i think that the Indian team management should file an official compliant against Lara ........ rather than trying to score useless "brownie-points" !!

ICC defends Lara

in my opinion this makes senses even though the indian media is critical. as Lara was a touch above being disappointed with the finger wiggle a reprimand would have been better.

by tomcruise1977 on Jun 10, 2006 08:07 PM

Thats the most disgusting thing i have ever heard from icc. Lara Behaviour was bad & pathetic . every time an Indian does anything it is dissent & no matter what the Australian, South African, English or the West Indians it is logical.
