The Cricket world's Great Lara belittled himself and cricket when he threw tantrums during the Dhoni episode.Had the umpires done their job by following rules of the game strictly rather than giving undue importance to Lara, the gentleman's color would have been restored. Even a child following Cricket would know that in case of doubt, benefit of doubt should go to the batsman. The umpire should have ruled Dhoni"not out" under this rule. This could have either stopped Lara from his 'not-Cricket" behaviour or would have brought him to books.ICC should penalise all the umpires involved to bring back prestiege of Cricket. Or else it will be known as International Council of Clowns.
Mr. Holding seems to be feeling bad that Chanderpal has been given out wrongly and fails to mention Chris Gayle in the same breadth.
And guys, there are always double standards in ICC when it comes to dealing with Asian teams and the rest of the World. Other countries are always treated with kid gloves.
Yes, Lara was lucky to get away with gross indiscipline on the field. Any one else would have been penalized and rightfully so. Lara had no right to behave the way he did. Ultimately, its the umpire's call and Dhoni was right in waiting.
Hope Lara mellows down and does not try to keep justifying his stupidity.
Brian Lara had no business to act insolent with an umpire. It shows his lack of discipline and for a player of his stature,is unacceptable. He has to lead by example and abide by the umpires' decision on the field. His act must be punished by the match referee who incidentally has fined Sehwag for excessive appealing. It is only fair that Lara is penalised too.
Michale Holding promptly pointed out 1 instance where the on-field umpire's decision against WI. He failed to mention several instances where rub of the green went against India in both the innings. If Gayle would have been given out caught when he was on 26 the final outcome of the match would have been different.
This kind of childish behavior from a old horse of cricket like Lara is not expected. This kind of things would result in losing respect people have on him.
