Lara should be suspended!!!!
by kumar on Jun 09, 2006 05:49 PM

Dhoni cannot be given out on that situation because both player and umpires were not sure whether the catch was taken clearly or not..Well the Lara behaviour on the field was so bad everyone who had seen that get angry. So I think Indian player and ICC should involve in the controversy and should take necessary step against lara..He is absolutely guilty...He must me suspended or dismissed from cricket...

Lara should be punished
by ratnesh mootha on Jun 07, 2006 04:46 PM

What Lara had done was un pardonable. He should be punished. He is not bigger than cricket. He is only 37 years old and cricket is 137 years old - When Indians get penalised for just about every thing - why not Lara - have we forgotten that four or five Indians were penalised for over appealing in S Africa. Same standard for every palyer - Lara is no different - I will protest by writing to the ICC - every body should write

Controversial Catch-Hand of God Goal
by Sridhar on Jun 06, 2006 08:03 PM

I feel this can be compared to the Maradona's hand of God Goal. If the umpires could not give a decision and they felt Dhoni should bat, Lara has indeed violated the spirit of the Game by asking Dhoni to walk off the field. Think the match refree should intervene and punish Lara as this is not acceptable.......I would have said this if Rahul Dravid would have done to a number 11 batsmen of West Indies or any other team.....

The match refree should not leave this unnnoticed for if this would have been Australia or England side playing such matches,I am sure some decision would have been taken..

ICC should notice this point to ensure the World Cup in 2007 at West Indies do not have similar issues....
These controversial events of poor tv coverage can change who wins the championship...

Unacceptable behaviour !!!
by Arumugam on Jun 06, 2006 01:13 PM

Really surprised to see such a reaction from Lara. When televison replays can't confirm a dismissal, benefit of the doubt should be given to the batsmen. Lara's behaviour clearly shows how much he has been psychologically shaken by dhoni's bashing... kudos to dhoni. Lara should be reprimanded by the ICC for this behaviour. Indian captain / coach should also come out with a strong statement on this issue. they shouldn't downplay the incident like King.

No need for Lara to sulk so much!!
by Ankit Agarwal on Jun 06, 2006 12:40 PM

It was really disappointing to see Lara not happy with the umpires decission and showing his frustration on the field. I think in the History of cricket whenever any doubt is there regarding a decision, umpires always give the benefit of doubt to the batsmen, and I think that Lara being the captain of his team and being the citizen of a country where 'cricket is religion' should have known this.
I would also like to point that Dhoni once again proved that we Indians are very humble and submissive in nature, be it donating away some part of our country to the neighbouring country or donating away our wicket on the cricket field to the opposition team just because they swore that they do not cheat and the catch was genuine.
