Good Article but....
by Vijayendra Darode on Jul 25, 2006 12:57 PM

The article was good but, some mentioned fact is not right. Sachin Tendulkar did not coax Munaf to play for Maharashtra, but Mumbai. Please note that Sachin plays for Mumbai and not for Maharashtra. :)
Cheers

Reporters shd get out of slavish mentality
by Madhu on Jul 25, 2006 12:17 PM

While joining all Indians in praying that Munaf does become a great fast bowler for India, I am a bit pissed off at the choice of words used by this silly reporter while describing Munaf's relationship with Chappell.

Pl remember that Chappell is a paid coach to the Indian team. The statement is in bad taste:

"I will do what Chappell wants me to do in the tri-series and other tournaments lying ahead," says Munaf, his voice palpable with unflinching commitment for his master."

There is no Master-Slave relationship here. Yes, its good that Munaf holds Chappell in high regard, as he should. Let's get over the colonial mind set fast.

Munaf Patel !!
by Pat on Jul 25, 2006 12:12 PM

Well,i for one doubt if he will ever be able to break the 100 mph barrier considering that he is yet to bowl consistently over 90 mph..Although i agree that he is a great find for india, improvement in terms of pace is one thing that i dont expect from him !! Yet,i stand to be corrected !!

Munaf Patel's journey
by Yaqoot on Jul 25, 2006 10:07 AM

It is really heartening to see guys like Munaf coming on big stage. It makes us believe that talent never goes unnoticed, no matter what is the person's background. I have my differences with BCCI's working policies but I do admit that the state of affairs have improved dramatically after the arrival of Chappel. Just have a look at the no. of youngsters who have got chance to play for India since Chappel came, and we can be sure that Chappel means business and he is looking for talent.

Hi Munaf,
Practice True Heartedly. You will definetly reach the goal. Do remember one thing. On ground you are not just an individual. It wont be munaf playing, its 110 Crore playing on the ground. What ever munaf bowles is not munaf but the 110 crore Indians. Keep that in mind. And please dont get carried away with complements and Endorsements. All The Best !
yours friendly

Nice try

Let him first consistently clock speeds in the 90mph barrier. Then let us think of 100mph.

Try to be practical
by Raj on Jul 25, 2006 01:13 AM

First let him consistently hit speeds of 140K...then we can talk about him reaching 160k or for the matter of fact even 150K

munaf @100 mph
by saibalp on Jul 24, 2006 10:09 PM

The point is NOT bowling at 100 mph, its about length, line and control. Munaf would do well if he can have control on these rather than going for high speeds
