3rd test
by partha biswas on Feb 01, 2006 10:55 AM

By putting the failure on the Indian bowlers, you are undermining the fine batting of the Pakistan team in the second Innings. They are playing the game with their heads down, and everyone is DETERMINED to give the best. This cant be held true with our Indian batsmen, where we only rely on some flash performances of a few individuals.Even before the Indians take the field for their 2nd Innings,I can predict the failure of TWO Indian batsmen...Shewag and Tendulkar, the first on account of having NO application of mind while playing a Test match, and Sachin on account of the tremendous mental pressure on him to perform.Even if we loose,it would be good to see ALL the recognised batsmen score around 40/50 runs each, than a couple who score centuries.Best of Luck Team India, but the better team should win.And Chappell saying that we will draw the match speaks of accepting failure. With all his big mouth blabbering at all times, why did he not say that we will FORCE a decision. He has already told the world that India has negative ideas.Playing for a draw is one of them. Before he took over as coach, we loved EVERY player wearing India Cap.He has successfully made us doubt their credit.

Can you be a little constructive ?
by Raghavendra Rao on Feb 01, 2006 10:33 AM

For a long long time (probably ever since you started blogging), you are lacking in depth and content. Quality in your reports is missing badly. I'm sure you can be analytical and more constructive. Instead of finger pointing, or whining, or merely criticizing, can't you with all the data and hours you spend come up some with novel ideas/ways to avoid such occurances in the future atleast ? For ex, what can Zaheer khan do better and how should he go about that ? How can Irfan get back to 135+Kmph speed ? What should Dravid do every time he gets into situations like these ? What are some of the ways to get some one like Younis Khan out ?

You are wasting too much time blogging and spending time with online friends - it's time to get the quality back into these match reports - these have become too lengthy and painful read :-(

Prem ..... have you ever been on the cricket field as a player?
by Ravi on Feb 01, 2006 04:37 AM

Hi Prem,

Have seen you write articles carefully looking into the Webster for words; mostly criticizing the captains. Have you ever lead a team in your life time and experienced the position of leading a side?

Ravi

leather hunt

Can you MR.Prem enlighten me as tio why the modern Test Captains have all formed into a league of using ODI field pacements only for Tests also. This stupid theory was introdued by the aussies under Steve Waugh and has been faithfully followed by the other captains. It has become an obsession to score at not less than 3.5 runs per over . Today Pakistan was allowed to score at around 4 runs per over all because Rahul would not employ a defensive type of field placement even when each one of his bowlers was being plundered with the outfields completley bereft of fielders. All the fielders[almost] were within the 30 yard cicle and most of them there were just retrieving the balls from the boundary. Disgudting to the core.

Pakistan Run Feast
by Jayanta Sengupta on Jan 31, 2006 11:35 PM

The pakistan run feast continues. Thanks to the Indian Teams vision World Cup strategy. Thanks to Greg Chappels cricketing vision. He has made Pathan a batsman and made him forget how to bowl.He left outt Zaheer due to unknown reason and he bowled better, though not taking a wicket and Saourav he is an untouchable regrds to Greg and he bowled superbly. If this is the new Indian Team then thank Greg Chappel and Kiran More. This team cannot bat on green top wicket cannot bowl on bowler friendly wickets. India is in for a trouble.Dravid better take your descision rather than being a pawn.

Cutting down Focus
by S Anand on Jan 31, 2006 09:26 PM

Dear Prem...Its nice to hear from your columns. But I strongly feel that you complicate too much in terms of language. There are many instances nowadays where I see unnecessary inclusions of linguistic which makes no impact on the reader, but worsening things.
Also sometimes the focus is lost and the real picture isnt translated.

Hope I reached you. Thanks

i think those who don't understand cricket and what are the mechanics involved in the game should stop fussing about the cricket, its very easy to sit around and point fingers at others, its very difficult situation when one is on the pitch at the level they are playing.!!

Dear Prem,
Iam writing this article as a critic.
What Iam pointing here is please do not keep your foot in your mouth. After all what are you trying to say here...that Rahul should have done this n that...before each thing everything is analysed and discussed..so everything is planned...so please, please keep your comments to yourself and don't write crap in your column..I don't know if anybody has said before, but all your columns royally sucks!!!!!

this guy seems to be in the know of exact 'Analysis', 'Planning' and 'Discussion' that went into what we lesser mortals perceived as thoughtless and tired effort on Day-3.
Hey friend, would you care to enlighten us lesser mortals with your knowledge or should I repeat and apply the last few words of your message for your post itself?
