Exclusion of Saurav
by Sur on Jan 22, 2006 10:16 AM

Its clear now that Dravid did not want Saurav to open the innings in Lahore because the flat track would have gifted Saurav a century!!Dravid and Chappell knows it is difficult to live with Saurav in the dressing room, as he is conceived as a potential threat to their jobs. The television footage that was interpreted as Saurav declining to open has now been proven wrong and Dravid/Chappell showing clear wariness of letting Saurav get a big innings by playing him on flat tracks. However, Dravid can be branded as a leader leading from the front by making a century in Lahore !!!

Its fair decision
by Sameer Shaikh on Jan 22, 2006 04:28 AM

I have been the biggest supporter of Ganguly during his whole episode with Chappel and Selectors. But this time I feel Dravid did the right thing. If everyone look carefuly in our batting, then it was difficult to drop anyone except Ganguly, because ganguly may have scroed heavily in domestic matches, but keeping in mind the form in international matches, he was poor in form. So everytime I supported Ganguly, but this time it was really fair considering in mind the condition of the wicket and need of five bowlers to curb pakistan run flow. Please dont make it controversy because I know Ganguly will be back in Karachi, where wicket might not be that flat.

shame to reply

According to Indian Captain it is difficult to omit saurav from second test held in Pakistan. If it is diffcult then why tean mgmt. eliminated him from this test. He is ever best captain in any form of cricket in india. Is R.P.Singh has better experince than Saurav in any form of cricket. Is it justified?

ganguly Dropped not on Cricketing issues
by Jayanta Sengupta on Jan 21, 2006 11:07 PM

The press reply that Rahul gave for dropping Ganguly cannot be digested at all.having five mediorce bowlers would never win Test matches for us. In reality we only have one strike bowler thats Irfan Pathan. Kumble needs Feroze Shah Kotla type wickets to perform, RP Singh though got 3 wickets is good for a change bowlers, Harbachan also needs spinning tracks.. he is no Shane Warne.. needs a good captain to handle him, not rahul Dravid of course.Rahul along with the think tank by now realise that Indias bowling standard is not lethal. Sourav played with 4 bowlers when he was captain and won series for us, he understood Indi's bowling standards. Rahul should realise that too rather be a pawn in the hands of others, read anti Sourav camp. More over he should also realise a fact that he too would reach a stage where he might be treated like Sourav also.So all these statements like five bowlers would win tests for us doesnt gell. He ought to behave like a man and act accordingly.

why this 'special' treatment to ganguly?
by venkataswarup on Jan 21, 2006 11:05 PM

The very fact Dravid talks about dropping out Ganguly it shows the 'special' treatment towards the former skipper. Were there any similar string of explanations given by the then 'skipper' when Kumble had to stay out of world cup matches? Why this unnecessary hue and cry? Let our players in blue play their natural game without dirty politics.
