Steve Buckner

I would give the other two umpires some benefit of doubt but Steve Buckner is clearly over the hill. I hope ICC will seriously review his status in the 'Elite' panel.

If its only money, then why these govts have to go publicly against the deal. If their intentions are true wouldnt they have tried to stop the deal by some anti monopoly laws? certainly there was no need to trigger an emotional angle in this bid.

Hi People,

I completely agree with your opinion.

Offcourse theres somthing more than racism involved in this issue. In today's business world who's bothered about color.Just money, votes, and power rules this world.

Code of conduct for umpires too.
by Abhijit on Feb 13, 2006 03:35 PM

Since , Umpires are judge of the match and control it. Some kind of points system should be there which can decide positive or negative effects on their career which will make them more disciplined. Umpires must be unbiased and clearly wrong decisions or not asking 3rd umpire where they should have should call for severe punishment.

What about Indian Umpires
by neeraj kapoor on Jan 13, 2006 09:47 AM

Of course we will not talk about Indian Umpires VenkatRaghvan for example who has given some of the most ridiculous decisions I have ever seen.Only saving grace being he used to do it for both the teams.Or Jayprakash who I am not sure is absolutely clear with laws regrding LBW.

Slam the umpires......
by Saurabh Wani on Jan 13, 2006 09:21 AM

If players can be fined for their faults, so can be the umpires. A suitable clause should be structured which brings the umpires into focus. This not only will put the required pressure on the umpires, will also ensure improvement and a healthy competition.

Personal or any sort of egoism should not be allowed in any type of games.

Every board governing the game gains maturity as and when it grows, not only horizontally but also verticallly. So to maintain its dignity, the required matters should be made transparent so no one has a question over it. No one is bigger than the game, whether it be the spectators, players, umpires or the board. At least the highest authority should try to maintain an unbiased nature rather than maintaining a silence.

This article is merely a mixture of words. a quite lot of people hold the same imagination and view. So Whether its true or untrue, a correct move in the correct direction can only change the opinions.

Two thorns
by csj on Jan 12, 2006 07:04 PM

The other two may be bad for both teams but India definitely have to work against two thorns in their flesh namely Steve Bucknor and Ranjan Madugalle each of whom displayed untempered bias against Indian team members earlier.
Hard tour made harder!!!

Kick out Bucknor
by Colonel SS Rajan on Jan 12, 2006 06:02 PM

It is indeed surprising that Buknor continues as an umpire inspite of his poor or atrocious performance ruining Cricket. He needs to be booted out immediately; otherwise Cricket in general and India-Pak series would suffer grieviously by his poor umpiring decisions. There appears to be no accountability in so far as Umpires are concerned. It is high time Steve Bucknor is sacked.
