Opt for Ganguly?
by UMASUTARAO C on Jan 11, 2006 11:23 PM

The following statistics should answer the above question!

His loss of batting form affected his leadership, prompting a change of guard as well as his axing, after India had earlier in the season lost their first home series to Australia in 35 years. In the drawn three-Test series against Pakistan at home, Ganguly scored just 48 runs at an average of 9.60. In four of the six one-day series matches that he played before being banned for slow over rates, he contributed just 31 runs at an average of 7.75.Inspiring leadership by Inzamam-ul-Haq helped Pakistan to recover from 0-2 down to record four straight victories and win the one-day series 4-2.There are fears that the Ganguly issue could prove a distraction for the Indian team, who are also going into the series after a successful run.

Rediff writer is Biased
by Cricket on Jan 11, 2006 10:11 PM

You the writer of rediff is totally biased. You are talking about talent (mentioning Gambhir, jafar) over experience (Ganguly).

After one and half year you wont be able hear the name of (talent) Gambhir or Jafar because your so called talent will disappear and will remain only class player like - Ganguly, yuvraj.

last pakistan series can't be the reason for sacking Ganguly
by Surajit Paul on Jan 11, 2006 08:54 PM

In the last pakistan series, India played well. when Captain Ganguly was given punishment for 6 match bann, the result was , test- 1-1 draw and one dayer 2-2 draw. After these Dravid was captain for last two matches and India lost both the matches. so what was the Ganguly's fault? and so, that canot be a strong reason for sacking him both from captancy and team. It was only politics of other for which Ganguly had suffered.
