Average Calculations

Hi, Average runs are calculated through the following formula---- number of runs scored/( number of innings played - number of times not out). So Yuvi got 344/(5-3) = 172 as the average.

hi
the average is calculated by dividing the total number of runs by (the total number of innings less the not out innings). in yuvi's case he batted 5 times but remained not out 3 times. so u divide 344/2 = 172.5
cheers

Avg. Runs?
by Kaveesh on Feb 20, 2006 12:26 PM  | Hide replies

Does any one know how average runs are calculated in One Day Cricket. For example, how does 344 runs in 5 matches translate to an avg. of 172.00?

Thank you!

The average is calculated by dividing the total runs scored by the number of time the batsman is out. For example in Dhoni's case he scored 344 runs in 5 matches but was not out in three innings. So his average is 344/2 = 172.

Yuvraj made 344 runs in 5 matches, but he got out only twice out of all 5 matches. That's why the average is calculated in this method 344/2, which comes to be 172. The writer of this calculation has suggested that at the very bottom line.

hi kaveesh
since yuvraj was out 2 times out of his 5 innings, the total runs were divided by 2.
344/2=172

Average is calculated by dividing number of runs by number of matches he has played and got out. Out of 5 matches yuv was not out in 3 matches so his average is 344/2 whoch is 172.0

Yes..average is calculated by the # of runs scored divided by the # of dismissals( # of time a player got out) ...

The batting average is calculated by diving the number of runs scored with the number of completed innings. For example, if a batsman scores 145 runs in 5 total innings with 2 times remaining not out, then his average will be 145/3=48.33.

It is calculated by dividing it with the no. of times the batsman is out. Like, for yuvraj, in his 5 innings that he accumulated 344 runs he was out only twice. so, 344/2 is 172. As for Dhoni, he was out only once. His average will be calculated as 219/1 = 219.00.
