dhoni gives india a high-five

Mahendra Singh Dhoni's blitzkrieg took the game away from right under the nose of the hosts.
In Lahore the visitors surpassed Pakistan's total of 288 runs in 47 overs.
The match was in pakistan's hands as India had to make more than seven an over when Dhoni came to bat. But he took it away with some great batting.
Though the pitch at the Gaddafi stadium ensured that it was a run feast for batsmen of both the teams, the match will be remembered particularly for Dhoni's swashbuckling innings.
Irfan Pathan and Rudra Pratap Singh each took three wickets.
Pakistan supporters were in good voice at the mid-innings break, perhaps bearing in mind that it can be difficult for a team to chase a score under floodlights.

With well over six runs an over needed, the two concentrated on accumulation early on with just the occasional streak of aggression.
But those difficulties were soon forgotten as they watched Dhoni tear into the Pakistani seamers in the latter stages.

He supplied the winning runs, hooking Razzaq down to fine leg for four to finish on 72 off just 46 balls, with Yuvraj on 79.

What About Zaheer Khan
by Gautam on Feb 14, 2006 06:42 AM

Well that was an Incredible win over arch rivals, but there is some thing which we need to know that if some one is not performing that what he is doing in the team mainly pressure matches like this well if for Sourav and than why not on others Zaheer Khan is completly lost in his rythem, line, length than what he is doing here ? He is the most expensive bowler in ours team these days but still he is here even number 8,9,10 number batsman take on him instead of bowling in their body or in block whole he used to allow them to play easy and also provide them short, and leg side pitched delievery's is he is playing for them or for the Team INDIA ?

Awesome Win
by Sajeev on Feb 14, 2006 04:04 AM

The win the 3rd ODI was a majestic victory for the whole Indian contingent. The Indian think tank have really learned from the mistake made by their counterparts in shielding their experienced players towards the death and asking the so called \"allrounders\" to face the seaming ball in overcast conditions. The Indian plan to send Irfan at #3 however back-fired but Sachin and Dravid steadied the ship. The Dhoni-Yuvi partnership was indeed a treat to watch and hopefully this is just the begining of a new look Indian Team. Needless to say we have to work on our slip catching.

stardom

No doubt, it was a terrific performance from Dhoni, extremely talented n sparkling. But never undermine the contribution of Sachin, who digged the foundation, under those difficult conditions, when wickets kept falling, he ended up with a very good runrate and didnt care for his 100 and went for his shots even in 90s.
And so is yuvi, terrific performance and very sensible...kept blasting, till sachin fell, took backseat when Dhoni came, so sensible n matured.
Again, Dhonis a terrific performance, I am really proud of, but he played when Paks bowling wasnt really challenging and fielding worsened.
I would have been more happy if the split decision for man of the match went in favour of the little master, who was of all praise for his perfromance facing really tough bowling. That too after a fairly good bowling spell of 10 overs, with a crucial wicket of Inzamam, in the absence of spinner.....kudos little fella, u hit the ball into mouth of ur critics with the heavy bat!
