I just feel there is absolutely no point in stretching this discussion any further simply coz its not worth it. Any sane person with a decent cricketing knowledge would know that there are umpires on the field to decide what is sporting and unsporting behaviour.

The rule to adjudge a batsman out if he obstructs the field was specifically made so that a batsman does not do what Inzy did, blocking the stumps when he had no buisness to do so.

If appealing for such a dismissal is unsporting, then I think we should not even be appealing for run outs and LBWs. After all just because these modes of dismissal are more frequent, it does not qualify the appeals for them as sporting.

So someone please go and tell Inzy that just like a run out and a LBW, this too is a mode of dismissal and all the players have full right to appeal for it. I guess instead of making such statements, Inzy might as well have a review of the rules of the game. Also a dictionary would certainly help him to know sportsmanship actually means...

INZY TERMS APPEAL UNSPORTING
by M.R.SRINIVASAN on Feb 10, 2006 09:12 PM

Look who is taking about spirit of the game! No Paki cricketer has the moral right to talk about this. They had bowlers [including Imran Khan] who were caught tampering with the ball. They have a chucker [Sohaib Aktar] who intentionally sends down beamers and does not have the character even to apologize, which suggests that the delivery was intentional. They had a Captain [Rashid Latiff] who was penalized by the ICC for wrongfully claiming a catch taken off the ground. They have another character who damages the pitch [Afridi] when the attention of every one [but the cameraman] was on an explosion outside the ground. While he was out of the crease when the ball was in play, it certainly appeared that Inzamam was moving to his side to block it, to make sure that the ball did not go past him. He should have been banned for a few matches for his misdemeanor.

i dont understand.
if it wasnt in the spirit of the game to appeal, was it in the spirit to actually obstruct the feild to prevent a runout? look whose talking? leaving a bad taste, wat about going to the media and creating rift between teams by accusing us of unsporting, and Moin it wasnt by hook or crook, it was within the rules, it was by hook or crook if inzi were allowed to stay. And if ur talkin about unsporting? if pak was behind in the d/l den wud dey have taken da lights? hmm just a thort (im not very aware if dat was an option)

Appeal Unsporting(???)
by Rajiv...! on Feb 09, 2006 07:38 PM

Hi,

I read an article about Inzy\'s & Moin Khan\'s comment about India\'s unsporting appeal against Inzamam.

Here, I would like to point out the fact that, the same can be said by Sachin when he was obstructed by Shoaib Akhtar and was given runout even though he had made his ground in the pakistan\'shistoric tour of India.

It would have been Insult to the Injury if India would have won the match but unfortunately did not happened.

Anyways, the point is, Pakistan should not cry over India\'s appeal where they had done the same thing when it was their chance to do.

Regards
Rajiv

Play it like professionals

Inzamam, Inzi or allu bhai.. is world famous for his running.. and this incident of obstructing the field just adds to his glory.. Even while writing this mesage I can not restrain to laugh at the fate of our Inzi bhai.. Always found in the no mans' land.. "outside the crease"..

now coming to his remark of Indians being 'non sporting' because they appealed for obstruction of field.. this I feel looks a child crying after he has been denied a chocolate .. Playing cricket at a professional level one should be always aware of the laws the game has set.. Your ignorance about the laws cant be blamed on others.. and later on you cry foul..
I just cant stop laughing at this remark by Inzi.. How clidish ?

Since he made a public remark.. I think ICC should warn him for this.. Because what was done on the field was in accordance with the laws and umpires and everyone would agree.. What he says now goes against the spirit of the game at this professional level..

Finally.. A suggestion for Inzi.. I know that lady luck just deserts you out of the crease, and you have my full sympathy for that. But to cry foul like a child at this professional level is not suited to you.

Inzy Terms appeal \ ( Unsporting )
by Rajnesh on Feb 09, 2006 02:34 PM

Being a batsman or bowler none of the Pakistani has a right to speak about Sportsman ship bcos they r never known what it is. They have always won with the help of Umpires even at Sharjah. One can always remember the LBW appeal made by Aquaib Javed ( hatrick ) where the ball had not even hit the pads of Batsmen. reg Inzy's run out he should know what has happend b'cos replay clearly shows that he was defending the ball knowingly he could get RUN OUT.

Inzy's Dissmisal
by Kashif Ahmed on Feb 09, 2006 12:48 PM

India's appeal favours the spirit of the game & is a sporting act.I just want to recall the incident, Inzy was about 2-3 yards away from the crease & well on the danger area. while returning back to the crease he was still on the danger area & if he is talking about the spirit of the game its not right. If he had left that area vacant the ball would have not touched him.Inzy's comments on indian feilders is not loyal.I think he is very much bothered about his dismissal which results in such comments.

we might have not comapred but how can inzy says it as an "unsporting"...

if inzy considers invading the pitch by afridi during test against england is "SPORTING".
