'Just leave Sachin alone'
by Raja Mohan Ivaturi on Feb 07, 2006 05:46 PM

Kiran More said all right words and I want to appreciate if he spoke from the heart.
We as spectators are expected to enjoy cricket. Whereas we start judging the likes of Sachin and Ganguly from here. Many of us do not have any idea on what kind of pressure people have on the field. Selectors are not expected to explain every piece of selection they make and there are lot of things that can not be opened in public. For me, cricket is as good as a movie or any other entertainment. If I see a movie and find the actors terrible all I can say may be they are bad in acting but I cant question why an actor is picked and why not some one else.

After reading the interview with Kiran More, I strongly feel that he has tremendous clarity in thought and action. He is very positive about Indian cricket and this will definitely boost the enthusiasm of the Indian Team.

All the best to the Indian Team and selectors too !!

Just Leave Sachil Alone
by Goutam Maiti on Feb 07, 2006 05:11 PM

Mr. Kiran More has requested the media to leave Sachin alone since "He has been an outstanding player for India over the years and I'm sure he'll continue to perform befitting his reputation of a champion batsman."

Mr. More, what about Sourav Ganguly? Is he a very bad player, even worse than you? Hope you carry the previous records of the players with you while selecting a player for the Indian squad. Who comes after Sachin in terms of centuries and runs in one dayers? Ans: Mr. Sourav Ganguly (I hope not Kiran More)
Who has the highest number of century partnerships in opening slot with Sachin in One dayers? Ans. Mr. Sourav Ganguly.

How could you treat a person like Ganguly in such a mean and ungentleman like manner? If it was Sachin Tendulkar how you would have treated him?

Mr. Chapel is the boss of the team. There is no worthy person in India who could coach the team. We are still in the colonial age. What Chapel has done? Does his performance show any stable curve? No!! Only some flashes in the pan by means of some surprise changes in the formation. What more surprises he can produce in future??? FEW

Morespeak - leave Ganguly alone
by Kalarab Ray, Kolkata on Feb 07, 2006 04:48 PM

It's great to see that More is living up to his words - he has been making sure that Ganguly is indeed 'left alone', by hook or by crook.

More was pretty happy to have Ganguly as the captain till Sep-2005. It's good that that he realized Ganguly's severe shortcomings as an international cricketer (courtesy Greg Chappell) in his third year as Selection Committe Chairman. Well, some people do take time to mature !

It's also interesting to know that More considers Agarkar as 'youngster doing well', together with Pathan, Dhoni, Raina, Kaif & Yuvraj (I wonder why he left out Karthick from his list of youngsters); he mentions Jaffer, who never become a regular member on Indian team, as a 'comeback man'.

Reading his reaction to the vastly improved condition today's Indian cricket, I won't be surprised if he selects himself as the 2nd wicket keeper (Dhoni, watch out your back !) with Greg Chappell leading the team for World Cup 2007.

How can anybody comment on Sachin?
by Srinivasan on Feb 07, 2006 04:44 PM

After reading Moin Khan about Sachin, i can only pity the man's cricketing knowledge, after having played at the highest level.
It will be stupid to expect Sachin to bat like what he did 16 years ago! Still the way he bats now is amazing. In the last 3 matches he played 4 innings, twice he was out to peach of deliveries, once he walked ( stupid to even believe he walked out of fear of Shoib!)& the last instance, he was bowled by a very low delivery, which we call in cricketing paralance as a 'shooter'.Sehwag & Laxman were bowled due to poor foot work. Sachin was bowled due to a ball keeping very low.
After the long Elbow break, sachin is definitely a bit rusty, but still scores and playes the game like a true master. In all the innings in Pakistan he never looked like getting out at all.His technique looked the best of all the batsmen on display.
It looks like, a few more matches & his scores will show up again. He is a class of his own & incomparable.Poor Moin trying to play the psychology bit.
Sachin will always be fastbowlers nightmare!

Leave Sachin alone

It was "heartening" to read Mr. More's comments on Ganguly and Tendulkar. Different yardsticks are applied for both of them with Mr. More normally reserving the harshest comments for Ganguly. Since Tendulkar and Mr. More happen to be from similar geographical locations, no wonder he waxes eloquent about Tendulkar.Mr. More why don't you ask Tendulkar to rest for a couple of matches or more importantly play some Ranji/Duleep trophy matches so that he can regain his touch?
