New ball did the damage!!
by Saji on Feb 02, 2006 05:25 PM

Too bad there is not a provision in the cricketing rules to start the match with an old ball. The basic reason is not the ball or the bowling or batting, it is their mindset. They have conceded defeat even before the first ball was bowled. For all the individual greatness and depth of our famed batting line up, they have shown the commitment of a suicide bomber on his tenth mission. Had they shown at least half of the commitment of the Pakistani batsmen who took up from 39/6 and posted the first innings total of 245 and then again posted a lead of 600 odd runs, they would have at least put up a good fight and even if defeated, would have gone down fighting. This game!! they just collapsed and surrendered, lock stock and barrel.

Well then, this is nothing new about Indian team, no matter who the players are, including the ones who are writing columns now or commentators now. One day they will thrash Australia and the next day they will be defeated by Bengladesh.

I think what Team India needs is a psychologist and a bowling coach, just like having a team physiotherapist. They need to build some killer instinct and above all, to believe in themselves first.

Indo-Pak one day series
by David on Feb 02, 2006 03:02 PM

I think Rahul and his team should get back home and do some serious net pratice as none of our batsmen had the answer to pak attack. so did our bowlers, they we beaten black and blue. none of them deserve the superstar status. media has made these people demigods among the public. look at australia, though being world champions for close to a decade, none of them are worshipped as in india. media should stop this hype around the players.

its better to get back home rather than humiliate the nation all over again. none of the batsmen has the steel to face pak seamers. surprise package being sachin tendulkar getting afraid of Shoaib akthar. Time to go sachin. Time to wake up BCCI.

If Ganguly why not Sachin....?
by Venkatesh on Feb 02, 2006 12:18 PM

Sachin is no special, team is important. Its better to have a person who scores 30 or 40 runs in every match than to have a person who scores century in every 7th or 10th match and scoring in single digits in all others. If ganguly can be made to walk out of the team because of his poor performance why not Sachin. Its not just enough to hit centuries, they should come when its most needed. Off late victories are brought in by Dravid Pathan Dhoni and the likes and not Sachin. I think he's been out of action for too long and international arena is not hwre he should practice to get his form back. He should play domestic cricket show his mental toughnes and win his position back.

utter crap. Accepting that batsman could not see off the new ball is not bravery. Indian team doomed because of the lack of concentration and willingness to win or ven draw the match. If one batsman fail in an innings its understandable but how can time and again whole top order failsin not understandable. Irresponsible and taken for granted attitutde saw us loosing the game.
