During SA's first innings, appeals for three lbws and a catch by wicketkeeper were WRONGLY denied by the umpires. Even without replays, it was clear that the batsmen were out in all three lbws. Replay of the catch also showed that the batsman was OUT. In India's first innings, Rahul Dravid was WRONGLY given out LBW. It was clear even without replay that the ball would have gone over the stumps, and replay confirmed it.
I did not watch the rest of the match it was too painful. However, I did come to know that on the fifth day the light was too poor for cricket, and at least one batsman (VVS Laxman) was a victim of the poor light. The umpires ought to have offered "the light" to the batsmen before Laxman was out.

What would have been the final result IF the umpires had given correct decisions in all the above five/six cases? It is strange that the Indian press has not given any importance to the umpires' wrong decisions AGAINST Iindia.

IND SA cricket test 2

Is there no emedy for umpiring errors? Dravid and Sreesant were not really out. Umpire did not see. Hew gave out. If he did not see, he cannot give out. If he had doubt, benefit of doubt should go to the batsman.
So, indeed India did not lose, but the umpire declared they lost.

What action can India take against the umpire. ICC should be having a remedy. If it does not have one at present, amend the rules and ensure fair play. Why is BCCI sleeping on this matter?

some bad umpiring decisions, but no excuse for Sehwag
by AJIT on Dec 31, 2006 03:19 PM

India has had a number of decisions in this match which have gone against them.

Sachin played fine in the first innings. But Sehwag hasnt played well in the last few months at all.

BCCI should start 2007 by calling back Sehwag.

South Africa win second Test

When was the last time any of our so called heavyweight batsmen rescued the team from a weak position and won a game? Except Dhoni, nobody comes even close to playing that role. We did not even need to win this test match. We only needed to play out the 50 odd overs. Pathetic display.

Sirs,

No point blaming any one person. Nothing is commented on very poor umpiring. It seems the one of the umpires was on SAfrican teams payrole.
Man of the match should have been that umpire.
Poor Dravid, had to leave the pitch twice due to poor decisions against him. Kumble was unfortunate, many plumb appeals were turned down. Considering above, India wins.
Reporters please be more professional- dont condone the poor umpiring.

thanks
Regards
Ajit

rethinking on Rahul Dravid's Captaincy
by Nirav Kapadia on Dec 31, 2006 01:18 PM

Its been a long time that we have seen Rahul Dravid bat as he used to before becoming the Captain. Now is the time to rethink about his captaincy. If it was Ganguly,India's most successful Captain, who was thrown out of the side than the same should be conveyed to Mr.Consistent also.If he is feeling the pressure of captaincy than he should be releived from that and asked to concentrate on batting.Pathan should be brought back and Chappell Should be warned about not to play with Players Career

Part of the game, Accept a defeat gracefully. Having said which, I think Sehwag & Sachin need a break., I think we shud be giving a good look into the likes of Badrinath and Pujara .,
